Grow tents with no light leaks?

I've used almost every tent, fan and filter on the market over the last 20 years.

Vivosun and AC Infinity are cheap china knockoffs. Use at your own discretion.

"Cheap" good tents - Gorilla Lite
Expensive good tents - Gorilla
Good filters that block the smelliest weed - Phresh

I got a gorilla lite on a black friday sale and it has the fewest light leaks of any tent I've seen, and I've cowered in the dark inside many of the tents listed here today. It had maybe 3 pinholes, which are easily covered by tape, but in practice, the light leaks that are going to do the serious damage come from poorly designed zippers with too little of a "flap" behind them, blocking the light that enters the tent....and also, through your vents and ducting. The one thing that gorilla does better than the tents mentioned here is blocking the light coming in from zippers-their flaps are several inches wide. If you use the 3 or so vents that most of these come with, you'll have to figure out a solution for yourself-just taping a thick piece of black carbon furnace filter over top them is "probably" enough. Even better would be to tape a box with a hole cut for the vent and another hole at the bottom of the box, so that no direct light can ever directly touch the vent. Same idea if you use the bottom ducting holes for extra ventilation-those are easier, just use a long enough run of ducting-say 4 feet, with one 90 deg turn and stick some black pantyhose at the end. The exhaust fan/ducting can be another source to check. Whatever you choose, be sure to test the hell out of your tent and make it absolutely light proof, because it isn't that hard and you only need to do it once. Turn on every light in the house, open up you window curtains, and then shut yourself inside of the tent-if it isn't pitch black, you have work to do.
The lite line I bought last year must of been a bad batch. It wasn't as well out together at the zippers as the 2x4 standard gorilla I just picked up. On the flap, adding a few more pieces of velcro makes a huge difference in light leaks around the zips.

Plenty of light leaks through acinfinity zippers, fabric behind zipper is wrinkled and they give you nothing to solve the problem, also needs side door on 5x5 tent for better access.

So is the AC infinity better than the Vivosun? Sounds like it has issues even with it's 2000D material. I've been using the same Vivosun tents for years without any issues at all.

So every tent I've come across has either a small amount of light leaks or alot (cough cough vivosun). Are there any that are recommended with none? I was looking at gorilla ones because I heard they are tested before sent out but have heard mixed reviews so I'm hesitant. The toplite 2x2 one had none but when I got the smaller 20"x20" ones they had leakes and caused some hermi issues. So what do you guys order that's bullet proof?
Update yeah I went with a smaller AC infinity one 20x36 as well. It has Velcro issues, and some pinholes around the frame so I did the same fabric over the issue fix, but hey, I ended up buying flexible artwork for all my tents so I don't have to look at ugly tents in the rooms haha

Have you owned or even seen a Gorilla tent in person?
I've seen the price tag in person. All I did was to concur with somebody else in that they are "expensive".

They are the best grow tents in the world. You can have 3 millenials do pull-ups in them at the same time. You can probably also use them for S.E.A.L.S. training. If you can afford them.

One day I will go "tactical", too, with my air filtering.

The first thing that usually breaks on things like jackets, backpacks or grow tents are the fucking zippers.

A broken zipper will be difficult to impossible to replace on a grow tent, unless you can do it yourself.

So what I'd like to know is not how thick the tent walls are, or home many millenials I can entertain doing workout, but rather if the zippers are as good as it gets.

I always get a chuckle when someone says you can do pullups with a Gorilla tent. Why would you want to and why would you pay for something that's not needed? It's like the guy that buys a Ford F-350 that doesn't tow anything and only uses it to drive to the grocery store.

My Vivosun is more than strong enough to hang a sealed hood, 6" fan, and 6" filter. What more is needed?

all grow tents have light leaks, ive tried vivosun, gorilla + gorilla lite, ac infinity (current), sunhut.

best thing to do is get a decent price tent and grab a roll of black gorilla tape and tape over all the seams then clip black out sheets to the sides.

a little labor but guaranteed light proof

Yes, it was exactly my thought when I saw their ridiculous marketing picture. "How much does a fan + TACTICAL air filter + lamp even weigh? 15 kilos max."

To be fair, it speaks for the durability of the tent that you can do that. Unfortunately the fucking zipper will break long before the supporting structure.

My grow light alone is just shy of 46 lbs. It's nice to know my tent frame will support it with no issues, not to mention the other hanging equipment. There's more to the tent then just that for me, but we all have our own preferences.

No you implied they weren't worth the price tag.
The word "expensive" by definition means that something costs a lot of money. It says nothing about the quality or value of the thing.

I did not "imply" anything -- actually I straight-up stated that I think what you're paying for is good marketing. I did not say anything about the quality of the product. I can not even buy it where I live (nor would I want to).

Nobody needs to be able to hang 3 millenials from their tent (maybe in Iran they do). I'm not ready to shell out money for such a non-feature. I also do not like over-marketing and hype.

By stating that more than half the price was just for marketing you implied the tent wasn't worth the price. So yeah, you did. The tents are more than just hype, you'd know that if you saw one in person. Too bad you can't.

Can you just darken the room where your tent's placed? --i tacked a couple beach towels over my window, looks perfectly normal from the outside. I also play XBox in that room, and i throw a big blanket over the tent when i do that, since the TV kicks off a lot of blue light.

I can honestly say fuck gorilla grow tents & I will never buy another. They are literally built too well lol. At least for my climate & purpose. I can’t run my gorilla grow tent with doors closed like I can with my Mars hydro & Viparspectra tents. I need to run it with the doors wide open, & at night, it keeps in all the humidity and heat even with mad air circulation I needed to buy a huge dehumidifier for the room the tent is in & 2 booster intake fans for night time rH. I never needed any of this for my other tents which mind you work perfect & have had no problems with. Also, I hate the design of the zippers on the gorilla grow tent compared to the others.

The gorilla grow tent light versions probably would suit me better, but again at that point I’m just paying for the name & could get equal quality for a lot less money
