i believe at that time it was so uncommon that the term was created 'going postal' when an employee is so fed up with (fill in the blank) that he shoots the place up.

but when it came to schools Columbine being the first and Sandy Hook the second? guns shows doubled because 2A.
Exactly, this was very uncommon during my childhood, guess it started in 90's at some point, but now seldom does a week go by without one, what does this actually say about the state of things as I'm positive people harbored dissent at work decades before shooting the place up became a common occurrence,is it video games where "wasting" people is realistic hence de-sensitizing occurs,is it the faster pace we now live with,is it monkey see monkey do, or simply people now hate at a level not seen before, or a combination or none of the above. there are people at work that I can't stand but I certainly don't want to shoot them.ccguns

USPS has become very slow due to Louis DeJoy and his improvements. it was recently said he's going to announce that 1st class is going to be one week. The USPS Board has to get rid of him in some way. I'm not certain if Uncle Joe can just fire him.

Only the board can fire him and Trump packed it, so they need to wait for Biden's nominees to get confirmed.

I mean why would a bunch of Putin loving insurrectionists think that kneecapping the one entity that the American people have that can make deliveries to almost 100% of the people in our nation on a daily basis.

I'm older than you are, so I remember other shootings. The first was the Texas school tower in the '60s, and the first elementary school shooting was in San Diego in the '70s by the woman who said she "hated Mondays."

Sad state of affairs, pay $7.00 for 3day priority and letter takes 4days from MA to RI to NH, WTF is a letter going to Oregon doing in FKN Nashua NH? And this is 4days?I would think it would leave my post office go to Prov.RI, then NY then to Oregon. If it has to go to Nashua NH it should have left there in 2days not 4days,heads up assesIMO ccguns

I don't work at for the USPS or anything, but maybe it is just that it was loaded onto a plane and it is traveling around picking up stuff elsewhere and will end up with a bigger delivery to you? Just it is not moving form the plane until it hits your local office.

I would hope that there is a program to optimize the shipping because I know it is out there, but it might not look like it. And it may well not be efficient in terms of pollution, but costs.

That is not saying that DeJoy could not have trolled the nation and made things extremely innefficient to hurt our society by hurting the USPS, but just a thought.

China's post office works the way ours did in North America with low rates, I never buy American, online, though I would like to, shipping is way too expensive. China delivers for free and is eating our lunch by selling directly to Canadians and Americans with free delivery and low prices. It's not just Amazon killing retail, that's just where people who write the news shop online. The post office is a service like highways and should never be based on profit (sensible efficient management yes), but by service and price. America could sell a lot more retail to the world with sensible postal policy and create many small and medium businesses by leveraging technical innovation better and this is a way to do it.

Wealth redistribution is necessary and good in our current economic situation, infrastructure, healthcare and postal services are a way to do that. Cheap shipping lowers costs and makes folks money go further while allowing America to compete in the global retail market (applies to Canada too). Retail is going global and has already, China lead the way with Banggood, aliexepress and other largely international online retailers. Big shippers can offer free delivery in North America, but small businesses are fucked internationally in retail.

You watch these videos and recognize so many opportunities to have helped him calm down. Persuasion > frustration.

you watch these videos and recognize so many opportunities in which he really was calm and listening.

prosecution walked you right through it.

the po-lice weren't listening to him and George Floyd had rights too.

Their strategy appears to be, "Chauvin didn't really kill him, now watch this video of Chauvin killing him".

The defense is depending on the jury siding with the police because "they have a difficult job and a big black man is scary, also, there were traces of drugs found in his blood". They made no real defense, they just said the right things to give some of the jurors the excuse of "reasonable doubt".

Facts are only important to people who are open to them. The result of the trial depends on the whether or not jury selection seated 12 people with the ability to be that.

Until Dejoy is out I am not sure if we will get any real answers. I didn't watch the last hearing he was in to see if he was anything other than the troll that he was in the one during Trump's time in office.
I believe Trump and DeJoy were part of a criminal conspiracy to suppress the vote and impede the USPS. Others might be involved too, but if they can nail DeJoy or some other witness or participant they can crack open the conspiracy. Joe loaded up the USPS board who determine DeJoy's fate, he's already gone, they just have to dot the I's and cross the Tee's. I think the FBI should move heaven and earth to nail this sleazy bastard, what he did and tried to do was obvious to everybody. He was part of a conspiracy that harmed America and tried to disenfranchise tens of millions of citizens, while attempting to install a dictator for life. Lot's of respected lawyers and politicians think this too and have said as much, worth an investigation and a real deep dive.

If they find him not guilty of such an obvious murder, there will be trouble on the streets and trouble for the cops in congress with police reform on steroids. The cops of America better hope they convict Chauvin cause an acquittal will mean future prison time for a great many of them. Old habits die hard and these fuckers will become victims of their conditioning when police reform passes and their special immunity is repealed. Video cameras and cellphones have created a new reality for black people and cops, a reality that will bite the guilty and a badge will be no shield from it.

I don't know about this being a watershed moment for our struggle against fascism in the police forces. Certainly, the event pulled the wool from the eyes of many. Certainly, a large number of people see the Floyd murder for what it was. Certainly, the events of last year, with Floyd's murder figuring large, sentiment has shifted toward alternatives to armed police interventions in non-violent situations. But this country hasn't reached a tipping point where change is imperative to the majority. The very reasonable protest slogan "Defund the Police" triggered so much fear and outrage among the mostly white community that the saying became politically poisonous to Democratic leadership. This country didn't change much last summer.

There will be large protests when Chauvin is given his pass at murdering Floyd. Some property damage and some resistance to police charged with protecting property will happen and draw more outrage from Fox show hosts than Floyd's murder ever did. Biden will be blamed by right wing media and the whole thing will turn into another attempt at rehabilitating the now tattered image of Republicans as "good Americans".

I'd like to be proven wrong in my belief that convicting a cop for killing a Black man is impossible under our current set of laws. Even so, things won't have changed all that much. If we really want change, we need to change the laws. We need to defund the police and put that money into more effective public safety programs.
