First grow isn't going the best, hoping they'll perk up after I transfer. Or is it a lost cause?

They need more light, probably a better draining medium-they look a bit overwatered. Can they perk up? Sure, if you make those changes and get them on a proper complete fertilizer like Jacks or Maxibloom.

Agreed, they need more light. I’d transplant to a larger pot with some better soil with better drainage.

I’d start with plain water for the first watering in the new soil and see how they react. Then start feeding them lightly, working your way up.

Transfer complete! got them in 2 gal pot with coco coir, perlite, compost medium. Now I'm worried about how much water to use for initial watering. Just enough so there's a little runoff?

They might have a little problem but over all looks strong. Looks like overwater or heat. Do they have optimal distance from lamp(if your hand gets challenged by the heat)
But a lost cause nono they'll bounce back i believe

The medium in the solo cups doesn't look like coco to me.
