Is my light sufficient?

That’s a good starting point you’ll start seeds and veg no problem with that.
But it only works out to 15.625 watts per square foot of grow area.

you might want to save up and grab another light to run with it for bloom. If this is all you can afford for now, you can definitely make it work but you’ll get better yields with more light

how many plants are you trying to grow? with that light i would keep it down to one or two to make sure the plants get ample light. when do you think you will be able to afford another light for flowering?

Currently got 4 little guys just transferred, but they're not femenized so I'm assuming it will be down to 1 or 2. I think in a month or two I'm going to buy 2x4 tent and put this light in there. I'd like to find a new light for my 4x4 under 300$, any suggestions

Are you comfortable building your own led?
Now a days it’s mostly just choose a driver and a couple boards or COBs and pretty much plug and play.people here can help you.
That will be your best bang for your buck for sure.

as for Buying a light prebuilt for a 4X4 for a $300 budget that might be tough. But getting another quality light to run with you current one is a great choice.
You can start your seeds with one,veg with the same one and kick the second one for longer veg periods and bloom.

There are so many options to check out and I’m sure a ton of people will have suggestions.
When you find something your interested in post it here before you buy and maybe we can help figure out if it’s worth your money

Doing a little browsing right now and looks like I definitely underestimated the price of good lights. Might be a few months before my ideal two tent setup is built. Thanks for all the info

$300 is crazy expensive for 250 watts of blurple. Should have just got an SE 600.

Spent $120 for the 250wt LEDs I currently have, was looking to upgrade for around 300.

If you're trying to light a 4 x 4 for under $300 your best bet is an HID. A decent LED to light a 4 x 4 is going to cost more than $300. You can get a 600 watt with sealed hood and dimmable ballast for $150 or a 1000 watt for $175.
300 will get you a 480 watt led from alibaba. That will for sure cover a 4x4. 4x qb boards.
With shipping?

lve got 600w led bar spider type in 4x4, l wouldnt go any lower on wattage as its just 37.5 watts per square ft, an 800w for 4x4 would kill it with co2, even 600w i need co2. Your light is under 20w per sq ft, one more would do it. 800w will give you 50w per sq ft. That will be intense. Dont forget co2, higher temps good, higher humidity good, check out vpd chart, it will be invaluable tool.

Could this be a early sign of finally switching lol
Not anytime soon unless my ballast goes out.

I'm not against LED. Well the cheap ones I am. I just never saw any benefit to replacing what I'm currently using. But the prices seem to be plummeting rather quickly. Another reason I use an HID is because I couldn't justify the cost for just a 4 x 4 tent and a few plants. The cost factor is changing so I am taking a second look. It seems like just a year ago people were paying twice what they are now for similar wattages.

I did make a post some time ago stating that I would look at LED's when the prices got reasonable. Well they're getting reasonable.

You get a bigger yield.
I already grow more than I need and give a good portion away. I don't know what I'd do with more weed. You can pull quite a bit from a 600 watt HPS.

But I do need some another light for other projects involving non-cannabis plants.
