New day new problem. Root aphids? Mite?

I haven’t seen any signs of bugs. Until today o went to transplants my plants in veg into a larger pot. After the transplant as I was cutting some holes in pot I noticed 4 little white bugs on the black plastic crawling around pretty quick. I assumed mites. Went to the store and guy told me it sounded more like root aphids and sent me home with “flying skull nuke em” and said either the way it will kill them.

here is my issue. No where can I find clear directions. It says to soak the roots but also says to water before hand and to flush after.

so can I get a little help figuring out exactly how to do this? And how often? Also pics are blurry as can be. Because they wouldn’t stay still. But does this look like a aphid or mite to you?

I would do as the instructions suggest as I have never had aphids or used that product....

When you first water is a good time to see them....you may have got caught it early.
They are very fast apparently.

Okay I’m about to put this back and water and see what happens in a bit. So far have only seen them on 1 pot right after transplant.

I’m not so sure. They look just like a type of soil mite. possibly just a beneficial.

I just saw someone else a couple months ago posted the almost exact same looking thing and they were also using ffof. Which is what I was adding to the pots when I saw them. So possible in bags of soil?

yours look almost look like super small brownish/tan spiders which is pretty much how Hypos look.

search for “hypoaspis Miles” on google images and confirm with a closer inspection.

yours look almost look like super small brownish/tan spiders which is pretty much how Hypos look.

search for “hypoaspis Miles” on google images and confirm with a closer inspection.

It wasn’t brownish tan to the eye. I noticed it after putting the plants in new pots and I was poking holes in them to tie the plants down (lst). I saw a few walking around the edges of the plants. To the naked eye they appeared like tiny white spiders and then I used a 30x zoom and tried to get a picture. But they moved quite a bit and I noticed when I could see them. They were clear with a tan tint. But couldn’t tell if 8 legs or 6.

I would rather think they are worse than they are and over treat, then to think it’s nothing and not treat. Although I still haven’t figured out the best kill method if they are aphids. I just don’t want to throw away plants that still have 2-4 weeks of veg left.

Catch one on a piece of shipping tape, then the bastard will sit still for you as you snap a pic.

I would have to find another one. I have been trying all day. Even popped a few that I still need to transplant out of pots to examine roots. And moving the top “ of soil around. Can’t find any anywhere. And besides needing to be transplanted I couldn’t find a issue with roots that looked like something had been munching on them.

If root aphid I suggest dominion 2L it’s a pesticide tho worked great for me .5ML/Gal feed n same for foliar.

Do you just add it with feeding? Or does it need flushed out?

U could add it to your feeding u only prob need to do it once or twice because it’s a systematic pesticide where it stays in the plant and the root aphid eats the plant then dies. This is a controversial product because again it is a pesticide. but I can tell you this it works and doesn’t kill your plants.

you don’t need it right away I wouldn’t worry this stuff works right away.
the active ingredient you are looking for is imidacloprid
