That being said in 2016, I did not cast a vote as I have said before I was never a very political person, however if I had an inkling that Cheeto could take my state (it has'nt voted Rep. since 1984) I surely would have voted for Hillary (a little reluctantly due to the sense of entitlement she exuded), but there was no chance in hell Cheeto could win MA and the pop vote means shit so why bother was my take. I wasn't to pumped over Hillary but she is a battle tested lady, she impressed me standing up to those bloodthirsty Reps for hours in the Benghazi hearings and she gave better than she got and they couldn't break her ( I'd love to see Cheetoman take that kind of heat, he'd completely melt down in less than half the time that she held up). Other than that I've always been able to find some level of respect for the pres. no matter what side of the aisle they were from,to take on such a pressure cooking, all encompassing job with so much responsibility is a noble pursuit IMO,and I put myself in their shoes before I criticize them, that is until a certain DONALD came along and he possessed no redeeming qualities to respect.ccguns
I came close to not voting (for Clinton) in 2016 because I thought that there was no way Trump could take Michigan, and I would just be wasting my time in line.

That is the bullshit with the attack on our democracy. It is nudging people into not voting if they can't be conned into voting for this current batch of Republicans that have been radicalized.

Finding out what the Russians have been doing to us all really has made me reevaluate everything I 'think' I have ever learned/felt online.

Not only that but this Electoral College thing is wearing on me as well as the 2 senators for each state regardless of pop. I know we need something in place to keep states w/low numbers fairly in the game, but seeing legislation held up by senators from farm states that would benefit large numbers of our pop. sucks, and the pop vote w/losing candidate winning by more than a million votes also is ridiculous. I have no answers as to how this can be fixed as i realize the founding fathers put this in to try and keep things fair but it has some holes in it for sure.ccguns

I think of everything made by humans is going to lead to other humans trying to figure out how to use it for their advantage. And this is no different, the EC is one thing, but the scary part is the states that have completely up ended a free and fair election by utilizing gerrymandering to keep power away from the large population bases in their states.

The fact that we have current senators, whose family made their wealth on the backs of slavery, talking about not wanting the reality of our nation's beginnings to be able to be taught, shows that those holes have been exploited for hundreds of years here in the states.

Hopefully once this current fascist-esque Republican party is voted out and the Republicans don't rely on the trifecta of evangelicals, racists, and 2nd amendment, voters because that is what they found are easiest to vote against their interests, everything works out and we can get back to work as a nation without the nonsense.

We are in a pickle w/Russia and their cyber attacks political and otherwise(pipeline), We need to hit back but the thing is that Putin has a mindset that in tit for tat cyber attacks he and the Russian people can shoulder a bigger burden than we can( at least that's what I think) so he is more than willing to give it a go and the pipeline attacks are coming from Russia without Russian Govt. participation(best of both worlds for Putin), they inflict pain w/plausible deniability. I fear more(much more) to come and it's time for the CIA to get involved and create a fictitious US cyber terror group that can inflict pain in the cyberworld on Russia and China w/built in deniability for our Govt. only this kind of subversive, nasty shit will get results.ccguns

Really, the fact that we used to try to show our dirty laundry publicly made the US what it is and was a endearing quality few nations could match, if we completely whitewash our history we might as well begin addressing each other as Comrade, If we rewrite our history books the moral highground will be lost forever, and after 4 yrs. of the Cheeto Adm. our adversaries are already beginning to use the retort " Who is the Us to call this or that out or to point a finger at this or that".ccguns

Yeah it looks like Biden was giving Putin a little wiggle room about the pipeline hack, so maybe violence can be avoided.

But IMO, this was always on Putin if this turns into a hot war. I think that it is more important for Putin to not wake up the 22% or so of our population up to the fact that they are under attack from him and his militarized trolls. Those fuckers are crazy.

It wouldn't be hard to do what you said with our resources. Look what we did to ourselves with the trolling that Russia did with a $1.25 million a month budget.

There was a report about how school boards are now voting and have MAGA folks everywhere running for them. The stupidity of what schools did in Kentucky and Texas (evangelicals took them over) could be coming to a school near you.

I don't think we should try to get the moral high ground anymore. Trump dumping our allies (Kurds/Ukraine) and signing a treaty with the Taliban forcing us to withdraw from Iraq ended that for us.

Hopefully we can just get to leading by example as we rebuild our nation for the upcoming centuries for 100% of our population and move beyond the decisions of the Wealthy White Heterosexual Male Only agenda made exclusively for the last centuries.

Is Liz Cheney, the right wing reactionary war hawk healthcare nightmare now the toast of Democrats?

She's an arch conservative whose only saving grace (to most in the US) is she can't agree to an obvious lie. But eff her and her 92% voting record for Trump's policies.

Cheney was more loyal to Trump’s agenda than Stefanik was. But Trump only cares about loyalty to him.

House Republicans are preparing to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from the No. 3 Republican position in the House and replace her with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). Why? Is Stefanik more conservative than Cheney? No, Cheney has an 80 percent lifetime rating with Heritage Action for America compared with a 48 percent rating for Stefanik.

Well, did she vote more loyally with President Trump? No, Cheney voted with Trump 92.9 percent of the time, while Stefanik voted with Trump just 77.7 percent of the time. Indeed, Stefanik steadfastly opposed key elements of the Trump agenda. She voted against Trump’s singular legislative achievement — his 2017 tax reform bill — and against making his tax cuts permanent. She voted to block Trump from withdrawing from the Paris climate accords. She voted to condemn Trump for calling on the courts to invalidate the Affordable Care Act. She voted to overturn Trump’s emergency declaration at the southern border so he could fund the border wall, and then voted to override Trump’s veto of a bill that reversed his emergency declaration. Trump calls Cheney a “warmongering fool” who wants to “fight ridiculous, endless wars,” but Stefanik voted with Cheney to oppose Trump’s withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria.

To repeat: She voted to invalidate the ACA. She voted to oppose removing Trump from office after his first impeachment. She voted for his tax cut for the wealthy that increased the deficit by $1T.

Cheney is no friend to those who want to address the US's role in climate change. She's not ever going to support affordable, government subsidized healthcare. She's opposed Covid relief bills.

I mean, sure, let's make some hay out of this recent own goal by Republicans who apparently have nothing to do other than savage each other. But Liz Cheney is a frothing at the mouth conservative whose votes brought us to where we are. Republicans have gone off the deep end but let us not lose perspective about so-called "honest Republicans". An oxymoron if ever there was one.

She voted to retain Trump as President last year, when his only defense was: "the president may do anything as long as he says it was in the nation's interest". She voted to keep Trump even after he was caught out through a recorded phone call explicitly soliciting a bribe from the Prime Minister of Ukraine. She only turned on Trump after he lost the election.

No doubt, but anybody who wants to take on this twisted ,lying, seditious Rep posse in outright denial of Jan 6 is OK w/me right now, I am stunned that they even put out this narrative w/all the video and evidence that exists and it is saddening that a sizable portion of our pop. is eating it up how far we've fallen that this shit can even play. Seen video of Rep. Green taunting AOC outside her office and while AOC is a little more left than my liking this is completely disgraceful social media post whoring by a vile woman who flushes all standards of our Democracy down the drain and even sadder is the fact that there is no one to reign this sick bitch in.Kevin McCarthy? HAHAHA.Can't understand how trashy WWE tactics our tolerated and moreover popular in the serious business of governing a country. Is this the shit that people really want this RAHRAHRAH confrontational Jerry Springer in your face bullshit in our legislature. WTF. and if this shit is par for the course then WTF is next?ccguns

Where politics need to be is this example Anthony Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg were as far apart politically and philisophicaly as 2 people can be, yet they maintained a good friendship between them and I believe exercised together and were social, that is the mindset this country needs.ccguns

I'd like to have 2 parties that it wouldn't be controversial to use federal funds to improve our crumbling schools in our cities. I'd take that over civility I think. It would be so nice to have both though.

But yeah, I would be cool if they swore and yelled at each other, then sat down and got the work done that the citizens who hired them need.

MSNBC just crushed the 'But China' troll that is being pushed too, so seems like the right wing trolls have gotten it birthed into TV 24 hour news cycle.

I think that Graham goes off the rails at the end and is trying to send out a hostage video message at about 7 minutes on.

The Republicans are trolls, and need to get voted out so bad.

I think we are having a great debate in this country over the benefits and issues with the filibuster. What I'm learning is that other healthy democracies have majority rule/no filibuster in their legislatures while the US, which is not a healthy democracy, is struggling to move forward due to Republican obstructionism.
