Sulfur deficiency? lock out?

This has progressed over a weeks time. Started out looking underfed and didn’t understand why. My first attempt at an organic indoor grow. Everything was good all through veg and the first 2 weeks of flower. I’m using 50% FFOF & 50% coco. Amended soil 2 weeks before flower with DTE 4-4-4, 4-8-4 & bio live as well as EWC all at 2 tbsp per gallon in 5 gallon and then after flip I noticed about two weeks in it was turning a pale yellow so I was confused thinking it was some sort of deficiency although I just amended the soil. Now in week 4 of flower and it has progressed even further and I also fed FF Big bloom as an immediate food source but now I’m just wondering if it’s a lockout somehow. I usually don’t ph my water (bottled spring water usually at 7.0) hoping someone could clue me in so I can learn something new. It’s also under an XS2000 temps in check. I have another plant beside it that’s doing just fine also. If that means anything. Thanks in advance.

How do the lower leaves look? Could be N def since you increased the ratio of PK with the addition of Big Bloom. Also the amendments change the soil chemistry. Can you pH your soil, or pH the runoff? I try to run my water and feed pH at 6.0-6.5 in soil. I haven't used the nutrients you use, so I don't know how they affect the pH in your soil and feed mix. It's possible the amendments have changed the pH in the soil so that you are seeing a lockout from pH....which will present itself as a deficiency of some kind. Also, if you overdid it on the amendments+bigbloom, you could be seeing antagonistic lockout...which also presents itself as a deficiency of whatever is locked out.

Peace:peace: Good luck!

It looks hungry not locked out
Did you increase nutrients as it progressed because mature plants eat more ?

Yeah. I thought it was telling me it wanted more food which was crazy to me cause I just had prepped for flower. I don’t normally use bottle nutes but since I had that big bloom on deck I fed it low dosage of that, nothing changed just progressed from where it was. Another thought that came to me is could be light burn? I did switch my lights out from veg to flower and this one now is stronger than the last.

I'm not positive but there seems to be this myth that you have to change lighting and feed to flower
It should be so gradual, your plants barely know it happens
But somehow people keep jumping in feet first

Nutrient deficiency! K for sure.

1. I'm not a fan of mixing peat and coco, but that's me.

2. Organics take awhile to break down. You need to be proactive.

3. Big Bloom is super mild, but it is the only bottled nute I would use from Fox Farms. I'd use Neptune's Harvest Fish and Seaweed if you need to quicker organic nute source. Or something similar.

4. They're getting more deficient because they are flowering and want more P and K now. I see serious K deficiency here.

5. Yes, more intense lights will make the plants want to grow faster, therefore requiring more nutrients.

That was the most I've typed in awhile. Time to smoke a bowl.

Light burn was my first guess,or ph crashed.
Not light burn. It's nutrient deficiency or lockout. pH could be part of it too.

I'd get a bag of EWC if you're doing the organic thing. I started with FFOF and then turned it into no-till.

50% peat 50% coco - time for trouble.

They work in different pH ranges and moisture levels.

The more intense the light is the more transpiration there is. With more transpiration and light requires more maintenance from the plant.

If your pH is off or not enough of 1 element it will show in leaves doing high amounts of photosynthesis - for example highest fan leaves often show defs before lower.

The food may be there but if the pH isn’t right it can’t access it as quickly as it needs to.

That looks like the beginning of a magnesium lockout...no additives or bs for a bit...good all around nutrient feed at a lower dose until she kicks out of it.
Happy grows.

6.5 is locked into most growers' minds...I find it best to vary the ph slightly , always the higher side...6.8,.9 or even 7. Allows a drift as the medium dries.
I'm in soil though.
As stated above, mixing medium styles is tough.
Good luck.

Yea the medium will buffer the pH just fine within 1 point or so. 6.5 is a target not an essential as you’ve just said :)

I only switched my light out because I had something better than what I had all through veg. It was tapping out at 196W and I started this one out at 200 then to 210 and then to 240 within a week and a half. I did however raise it even higher after and dialed it back to 200 again.[/QUOTE]

Lol I do appreciate the lengthy detail!! So thanks for that.
I didn’t add to the original post that I did amend the soil again when i first noticed the yellowing as I thought they were deficient. I too dressed 4-8-4 and EWC at 2tbsp/gal. So what do you think I do from here? Just wait? The 4-8-4 should suffice the PK deficiency or is there something else you’d advise to use to boost that as well? I’ll take all the info I can get. I have really been enjoying the learning process that comes with growing and I really have been interested In learning more about soil biology. I did not not know mixing coco and peat based soils would be an issue I am glad I know that now and would etch that habit out of my growing processes. Thanks again man, hope you enjoyed that bowl. Cheers.

Neptune's Harvest Fish and Seaweed would help until the top dressing breaks down.
