If everyone agreed to ignore him we would all join in. But he will still have all is adoring minions and if the good people do ignore him he would not know it and think it is business as usual hoodwinking the public. This is our way of having him know we have not been hoodwinked. That he is an unacceptable leader for these times. Going back 100 years he may have been useful in combating the same kind of megalomaniac that was across the pond. That is if trump was 40 years younger and had a mind. The little guy with the funny mustache was at least competent. Given what he is today, the allied forces might not have done as well with Trump at the helm of the US.
To Trump it is all about the adoration and the grift.

When the cell door in a NY state maximum security prison cell slams behind him, people will stop caring even more. They will hear about him during his other trials and lawsuits, but he will be in a NY prison and participating via video for most of them.
Donald will be in a maximum security prison too, he has a large domestic terrorist following and the judge and jury at his trial will receive hundreds of death threats before sentencing. Donald will be infamous for awhile, there are state trials and probably federal trials too, at least for conspiracy to commit insurrection. Then there are the many lawsuits and more coming, as evidence from his trials comes into the public record.
Right now he's doing such a great job of destroying the republican party, that the democrats don't mind him running around loose for a spell in shitty diapers with his pants on backwards.

Not much people can do about the dangerous shit he's been spewing, that's not even really news any more, we will hear it more as his rallies increase. Rallies are gonna be fund raising events for his "stop the steal" con and drive suckers to his website where he can clean them out.
I'll bet he packs a few spare pairs of pants and depends for his next appearance, perhaps he should consider a butt plug?
Anything that will help to denigrate the fucker in the eyes of voters will be helpful and the truth will diminish him the most. He has his hardcore base, but his support is weakening among independents and even some republicans, who figure he might not be the best leader for their fascist and racist agenda.
Wait till this fucker is indicted, on trial and staring into a NY state prison cell, if you wanna see desperate and crazy, you ain't seen anything yet! Donald will have the entire GOP congress, house and senate storming the courthouse steps in NY, anybody who doesn't show up will be insufficiently loyal. I expect Mike Pence will be at the head of the mob in body armor holding a FREE TRUMP flag and fighting with the NY cops! When they send Donald to prison, he will blame the republicans for not trying hard enough and walk his supporters out of the party.
It's very useful to let NY state nail his ass first and imprison him, Joe hasn't mentioned his name and the DOJ seems to be slow walking indictments against him. I figure they (including Garland) are gonna take their time crossing the Tees and dotting the I's on his federal indictment(s) until his NY trials and probably sentencing are over. And I am not as sure about them taking their time, as much as it is a whole lot of process and work to do to get through everything.
I am not even sure about where the 'clean team' thing on what they will be able to look at that they scooped up from Trump's accountant. I can't remember how long it took for Cohen's but it was a few weeks I thought. Up until the last couple months people were not really able to get in place to do their jobs.
And there is at least 4 years of hard core scamming to drudge through so they don't fall for any nuanced legaleze trolling that Trump was able to have put in place.

They will have good reasons like those you stated for going slow, but NY state has been developing their case against Trump for sometime now and have a special grand jury empaneled that is now hearing witnesses. I think, unlike Cohen's trial, they are going for NY state's version of RICO against Trump and his organization, it has very heavy prison penalties and will scare the shit out of his employees, including his bean counter the weasel, it takes much more time and effort to develop such a case.
Like I said, letting NY state take him down and put him in a prison cell will give Joe and the democrats clean hands and Trump won't perceive them as direct threats to his ego and freedom. Joe hasn't uttered his name once and neither have his people and I figure it's for this reason. Merrick Garland needs to remember he's no longer a federal judge and is now the attorney general who swore an oath to defend and protect the constitution. If the FBI and DOJ are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of crimes, then he needs to bring back some recently retired or resigned FBI and DOJ people to handle the work load. Being overloaded by the amount of crimes by Trump and his supporters is no excuse for making deals and not pursuing law breakers. There is no rush for most of this stuff and they can investigate away until 2022, when it can either move forward to indictments, or just be forgotten about along with democracy, if the republicans win the house and senate in 2022.
Right now the most important thing is to keep the republicans out of power, if they attain it, they will not give it up without violence. They are no longer a democratic institution, but a fascist organization dedicated to turning America into a race driven autocracy. They no longer need Trump for this either, he did his work by filling the party full of racists and bigots while driving out the remaining moderates and patriots.

Almost as important is to make sure we are not voting in Koch(or any other right wing/dictator dark monied) funded trolls to the Democratic party as a backlash when they inevitably start sneaking them in.
The Gaetze scam trying to get some woman they knew to run is proof that this is not just some weird conspiracy theory, the Koch bro also said something at some point about no longer just funding Republicans, but any party member that agreed with the Koch way.

They must be shoveling cash at Joe Manchin then! They need to strip down and redo HR-1 to address the republicans moves to limit voting and who counts the votes. Make voting by USPS a legal right and voter registration a checkbox on federal tax forms.
I think voting rights and a new stripped down to it's essentials version of HR-1 should top the priority list for democrats, even if they win, in many states they will still lose the election, if they let this bullshit the states are pulling go unchecked. I also think they will see a different attitude from the SCOTUS, post Trump and Jan 6th. Trump burned down the conservative justices political home and they watch the news too. If the insurrectionist succeeded at the capital, they would have crossed the street and would have been hunting at the supreme court for Justices to hang, hang Mike Pence would have quickly become "Hang John Roberts"!
