Grow tents, are they worth the money?

All it comes with is the tent. You need to buy everything, lighting, ducting, fans.....everything you want to put in it you need to buy, once you set up the homebox you have a big empty box and like 10 straps, the rest you gotta buy.

It can be a little tedious theres a lot of little things to buy, and sometimes you gotta go buy stuff and set it up just to find out what else you need.

i figured if i just got a light, then the incoming and outgoing fan thing, and then like the basic stuff like temperature and shit

If you get a good exhaust fan you dont need an intake fan, but your gonna need an air cooled hood to keep temps down.

Also you cant see the big 7000 BTU AC/dehumidifier I run in the room to manage temps and humidity.

the op is in a attic so its like freezing cold but i think with the tent and the lights it will be warm enough, so you think one exhaust fan will be good, what one do you suggest? is that the only other hole thats in the homebox where something connects

keep in mind im just trying to get the basics down for now cause im on a low budget but after this harvest ill get better stuff down

i also know how to grow just not with a grow tent

Well the tent is the same as any grow, you need to control air.

There are 4 socks for air, 2 smaller ones for chords, and there are 4 intake vents, they are big rectangular with just mesh over them, so if you have a good enough exhaust it will create low pressure in the tent and pull air through the intake vents.

You will Need a centrifugal style fan. Depending on the size of tent you get, I use one on either side.

I just got 2 4inch HO centrifugals, and 2 4inch flange carbon filters. I have 2 so I can run 1 always as odor control, and the second only comes on when it gets to warm in the tent. I just used a Control Wizard cooling thermostat for that.

I do have to say I would never, ever, EVER recommend growing in an attic, thats just a bad idea, and often an amateur mistake that leads to quick failure.

But every situation is different and I dont know all the details of yours so whatever works for you.

If your attic is cool that might save on an AC, but I would imagine your going to have a Very difficult time maintaining night time temps, putting a heater in the tent wouldnt work so great, you would need to heat the whole attic to a decent temp for optimum results.

Also humidity is gonna be a HUGE factor up in an attic. I would get a humidifier up there running and and air purifier weeks before I started the grow to get a handle on temps and dust/air particles that tend to build up in attics.

Are you serious?????

Those things are absolutely Notorious for having holes everywhere, even in the middle of the fabric theres pin holes, and every seem has light leeks, they are crap.

Every person I have ever talked to about them said they have had light leaks.

Your the first person that Iv ever seen say they are good

if it gets cold up there what are the temps gonna be like at lights off in flower?
think about this properly mate, attics are a pain in the arse at the best of time, and you may as well just make your own tent on the beams with blacknwhite plastic and a staple gun

You ask about the smell getting out when you open up the tent ....
your gonna need ventilation and fans moving air thru and out the tent all day ...
the tent is constantly open for air flow, and smell flow :)

Sorry to burst your bubble bro but I bought 2 of these tents 4 months ago and they are total crap. I could write a review to smack this company sideways but why bother. They already got my $$$

But I'll do my best on here to get people NOT to buy them.

Reasons:

1 - Pinholes everywhere. If you want to grow at night forget about it.
2 - ALL the socks have light coming in and out of the stitching seams.
3 - Light bleeds thru the zippers in many places
4 - Light also bleeds thru the seams in the stitching of the zippers
5 - This is the "unfuckingbelievable" part - Light comes right thru the fabric in some places. It's not blazing but you can see it in areas all over the tent. Like wierd patchwork of some kind.
6 - Anything bigger than the DR120 and the DR240 suck ass big time due to the fact that they can't hold up shit. The DR150 and DR300 use 2 30" poles to make one cross connection. Makes it weak as shit. The DR120 and DR240 use one 4' pole for a cross connection. It is much stronger but still can't hold 30 pounds.

Hydro stores suck ass because once you put the tent up they could give a shit about giving you your cash back.

Also the guy from Secret Jardin quit coming around here once I posted my review a few months ago. Got scared he was going to have to start giving refunds for his garbage product.

They say they "improved" their product. It was the reason I bought it. But the "new" crap was just as bad as the old crap. What a waste of $1000 :-?

as i said sounds like the street versions to me (i have one of them too) but nothing beats they're pro version. i have turned on 1800w in one and apart from a slight glow coming from the vent and electrical holes there is nothing , so then i switched on 1200w outside the tent and zipped myself inside, total darkness

My tent(dr120) was well worth it. It has heavy duty zippers and has been through a few rainy day's( I have it outside) and never had light or water leaks. I recommend buying this tent, I also heard that these tents are putting a lot of pressure on hydrohuts. Check out my journal and see pics of my tent.

If you have the time and material maybe its worth making one, but not as far as I am concerned. The HomeBox tents are great - fully zippered, light tight, lined with white mylar, vent screens, resealable cut-outs for vent tubes, fold up design, portable, etc.

If you can make one like that for the $120 - $250 that a homebox costs, I'd be suprised. And then there is the time you would spend...

Do you read? I know you have to. Maybe you just skip the parts that have meaning. Go back and read reason #6 again please. It clearly states what type of tents they are.

The street versions don't have the silver lining on the inside. They are also not called DR. There is also a green emblem on the front of the tent that says exactly what it is.

I'm happy you are satisfied with your product. I'm just letting people know what they are in for if they listen to you.

Awwww poor fella. All riled up over nothing.....or do you sell these things.

I could give a rats ass about what it "sounds" like MATE. I know what I purchased and I know what it says on the front. Go read several other posts around this website and see what the fuck I'm talking about. The same shit over and over.

Yes YOU have the street model with the crap ass silver lining and the word street on the front. The more expensive tents have the special silver lining that supposedly hides heat better.

Most of us have the DR120, DR150 and the DR300 models. None of them say street. We are all having the same problems with these pieces of shit and I'm not the only one complaining about 'em.
