This is my Auto Dwarf Low Flyer. She is in the soil at 9 weeks today. It was sold as a fast seed. The first 4 pic's were taken over the last week. The last pic is of an Auto White Widow that was put in soil the same time as the DWF. The Widow has not gone into flower yet. Note the size deference in the size of the plants.

I made a mistake here. The white widow is in flower and has been for 2 weeks at least. The plant that is not in flower is a Bruce Banner that has been in soil for 6 weeks today. See pic 6

My plants seem to have survived the fairly epic heatwave (said to be a "1 on 1000 year event", but that's a pre-climate change notion). The hottest it got was 116º in the hoop house, and then I threw an opaque tarp over the roof. It finally cooled off and is heading towards our normal weather, which is a really, really good thing.

Here's some pics of the buds developing, gotta love autos, starting to flower in the end of June when the days are the longest.

In order: Cindy Jack, Purple Scoop, HBH, Mango Smile, Glueberry OG, and Daiquiri Lime. DL is the tallest and the last to start flowering, if I had put that one in the ground, it probably would have been a 16 week plant and a beast. All the rest are within a week or two of each other in terms of bud development.

I saw on DP website how the DL vegges longer than most autos. Should be a wonderful strain to train indoors with that extra veg time... in patiently awaiting a smoke report when done as I’m looking for some clean uplifting sativa autos.

Quite a few sativa autos always start off uplifting but then taper off in a more relaxing high. Hoping I can find a really clean sativa auto!

That’s some savage heat dude! Max ever temp in Scotland is 91f lol

The highest we saw was 109º in the shade, lot's of places reported hotter temps. The hoop house tends to go 10º over, but I wasn't willing to go 120º so I covered it when it hit 116º. It was brutal. I'm ready for winter already after that one!

I saw on DP website how the DL vegges longer than most autos. Should be a wonderful strain to train indoors with that extra veg time... in patiently awaiting a smoke report when done as I’m looking for some clean uplifting sativa autos.

DP's website often has some great info, like for me confirming that outdoors growing in pots vs. the ground can shorten the finish time by 2-3 weeks. Good to know for planning. Another long run DP strain I'll probably try next year is Lemon Kix. That one should be very heavy sativa leaning, being mostly a skunk lineage (if I'm understanding that correctly).

I grow for my wife, who gives me very little feedback on details. She's sort of an old school stoner, likes sativas so that she can stay active while high, but once stoned doesn't really discern or differentiate much between strains. Sometimes she comments on flavor, her current favorite is Mango Smile. As for me, I can't smoke, so I only do edibles, so I'm useless in terms of smoke reports.

So after losing 1 to my son and 2 to the sheep I’ve got 2 left. Going to transplant and hope to get an alright yield as she’s just shown sex a few days ago.

I've lost bud to mold and bud worms, but never farm animals. That's a hard lesson for sure. Barbed wire electric fence for the last two?

I've gotta say, losing plants to sheep is also one of the most Scottish things I've seen happen here on RIU

I have a walled garden which they usually stay in so that’ll keep the buggers out lol

A day or so ago I was in the greenhouse playing with the girls. I was dong some training and turned the plant a 1/4 turn it caught on something but it came loose and I left it alone. What I did not see until today was that I had broken a limb at the top of the plant. It did not break off completely and I cut it loose the rest of the way. Pic! shows where it came from, Pic 2 is what it looked like when I cut it loose. Pic 3 & 4 are the bud cleaned up. I guess tomorrow I will find out if it works!

If there's no rain in the forecast, check the trichomes and let her go as long as she needs. Like @sirtalis said, looks like it might fatten up a bit more if given more time.

A little bud development update...

FB Gorilla Cookies was the first to show sex, the first to start flowering, and now the first to have hairs start to darken.



Meph HubbaBubbaHaze is showing some pretty colors and is probably the sweetest smelling of the bunch



I've never grown in conditions this hot and dry before, so I don't really have a sense of the impact it's having on things like rate of maturation. If it speeds up the plant cycle, that would imply they could end out smaller. I've also been growing in the ground the last three years, so I don't have a feel for how much growing in these pots is impacting them. In the end, I'll have final weights to compare with other years, I guess that will be my measure. Peak heat of the day, it's 87.6º and 41% RH outside, vs. 101.4º and 30% RH in the tall tunnel. That's about average lately, +/-.

This is my Fast Dwarf Low Flyer. She got chopped down yesterday at 77 days old. I saw the mark In pic 1 and thought it was mold so I dug it all out but it was not. Note in pic 2 the size of the root ball. She spent her entire life in the greenhouse with no extra lighting other than the sun. Lived on Plant Prod MJ line. I got a pretty good buzz from the resin after cleaning the blades of my trimmers. So now she hangs for a few days. She sat next to a White Widow Auto and was planted the same day but the Widow has a week or 2 before it is ready. There is also a Bruce Banner Fast just about ready to go into flower and a Fast Jack Herer that was planted today. That keeps me within my legal limit of 4 plants. Any comments welcome.

Kind of ironic that my weather is better suited for an October harvest than a July harvest

That sucks about the bud rot. Last year I had my plants covered, but a couple of light rains and a few days with long cool mornings covered in dew and I had to take mine down early also. I planted earlier this year to try and avoid that, but hit other issues.

Can you stagger your sprouting to spread the harvest out? That's what I'm thinking about for next year, sort of hedging my bets and hoping some 90 day segment of the season is without major issues from start to finish. I haven't figured out the details, maybe pairs of plants started 2 weeks apart in three waves.

That is part of what I am testing this year. I am allowed 4 plants legally. I started 2 photoperiod plants outside in the yard and 1 Fast Auto and 1 regular Auto in the greenhouse. When the fast Auto went into flower I started another reg. Auto. Yes I am now over legal by 1 plant. The fast Auto has now been harvested (so back to legal) and the first reg. auto is in full flower and about 2 weeks away from harvest so I started another Fast auto. (back to 1 over)
The line up looks like this:
1 bag seed and White Widow outside. 1 Fast Dwarf Low Flyer and White Widow auto. Start 1 Bruce Banner then harvest DLF. Harvest White Widow and start Fast Jack Herer. That is the plan anyway.

That's a good call. My weather is pretty predictable: sunny from April to June, then fog from July to August, then sunny for September and October.

I just messed up by believing the "80 days to finish" that the breeders say. Next year I'll start them indoors in March and have them finish up during the sunny spring.
