Im not lookin to argue. If you don't believe it, smoke it. It's your bud. I'm just saying from my perspective. Everybody's differ.
If you don't want to hear the answer, Don't ask the question.. DFMy loaf of bread show no indication of mold whatsoever. But there’s mold in the air and it’s been in contact with the air soo therefore it’s contaminated.
What if it's not penicillium? Anyway if you're eating it there's less damage but you're breathing it before so at my place if bread gets mold it's toast, errr tossed.I would trash or use for edibles as everyone told you . Yup 1.5 lbs but idk xtsho, there's no way im throwing out my whole loaf of bread because theres a little penicillin on the crust jk lol
I'll essentially copy and repost thisThese are very great points, and of course to each their own, but with that being said. Even I would assume I have smoked some bud with mold as many others willingly, or not have, if buying from another person, or even yourself. This is to assume that every bud, hair, bug, etc... Has been looked at with a scope, right? No. Because theoretically unless mass sterilization occurs which is done in federal/commerical, with what I think is UV/radiation or something. It is near impossible to kill all spores/mold before consumer gets it, only in which the cannabis sold to the mass public actually is!
Now there is ways to limit mold/spores I would say. But it can never be eliminated in our home grower/hobby parameters unless intensive measures are taken.
Besides these points, yes mold and spores exist, no doubt. Are they alive and harming you while smoking on cannabis? Myself and for Myself have come to the conclusion that the only essentially toxic part of mold is the toxins they produce as byproducts mostly from the aspergillus family of 5. Other than that it's mostly irritants and big negatives for immunocompromised people. So once a spore is idle/inactive no toxins are being produced which is essentially the worst part to be smoking. Now this is simply my research and conclusion, with alot also still being left out for why I choose certain techniques for the extent of damage done and the exact origin of fungi/mold being analyzed.
Now with that being said, as there can be mold still present in the harvesting, drying, and curing phase. You can potentially be inhaling the dangerous molds, and others throughout this process while the spores are innoculating, feeding, and multiplying.
Outdoor cannabis I think, is a prime candidate to showcase this. Being hit with everything, and being able to smoke it off drying rack is something entirely. This has been done and around for so long to say any mold can kill you is false, can it make you very sick, absolutely. These are the risks just like with anything.
I would assume even further that lab grade is damn near impossible but less likely to have mold, but possible! I read an article of of 30% being tested as contaminated(commercial) and multiple testing grades being the DNA one the best on this subject for identification and then they apply one of their hundreds of cleaning/FDA approved removals/disguising shenanigans they love to do, saying it's safe now!!
There is a great post on RIU I'm currently scanning through on the whole subject, it's actually a huge eye opener I suggest for many serious into growing! This is not advice, only what I do!
Many a time has the government recommended toxic products to us consumers, and even now with the recreational legal, there is still blurred lines in mold testing and many other factors involved. To be the absolute safest, easy, throw it away, YES! But that's not what they are doing upstairs hahahah! All I wanted to essentially say is the deaths from cannabis related activities is very minimal compared to the FDA shit nowadays! The facts are stated for us and them through studies, it's our choice as per usual to do the DD(Due diligence) and decide for us alone what we want in our bodies!! I will not advocate smoking moldy bud, never!! But if someone is going too, which is still possible even if you buy from a legal despensary! (I found bugs couple times among black shit/spots) I will atleast enlightenment them on proper and safest way possible, because from what I've read and what they are doing, it can be "safe", right? My situation with this current grow is peculiar to me, and me alone, so I'm acting accordingly to my threshold, and knowledge available. Everyone is different which is why I love forums!!!I'll essentially copy and repost this
You can not kill spores with anything that will make moldy weed usable for anything other than edibles. The hospital autoclaves don't always kill spores unless you went to the big pre-vacs or ethylene oxide or some other less 'friendly' methods.
You are risking your health, not now but later. You can inoculate yourself and years later when you are ill the spores leave dormancy and grow. Pulmonary infections can be rough to treat especially when they are secondary to other health issues. I know when you are young you feel invincible and who knows maybe we'll have all this solved by then but you would literally be gambling your life.
I've lost people from fungal lung infections. The most helpless feeling in the world is watching someone die on a ventilator with 100% O2 and maxed out PEEP where we literally blew holes in their lungs trying to get the oxygen into their bloodstream. Many a time has the government recommended toxic products to us consumers, and even now with the recreational legal, there is still blurred lines in mold testing and many other factors involved. That's what I hear the big dogs are doing is using it in topical, edibles, and other ingestible non combusting routes LoL The only thing I came across in my research is the toxins can still be absorbed and potentially cause liver cancer or something around that degree. Most testing but not all( Cali seems to be leading they way) used is for food from what I seen as well, so there's that. Either way be safe, and informed, blessings to all and clean smoke!so you freak out -take pics, ask a question of the growers - next you bag the growers for giving advise ,so why post- should have done your homework first.. any mold = edibles ... what a fool
No, I have run into this problem before. It only tends to happen when I hang dry entire tops, it is usually the top section of the terminal buds that end up with mold in the center. IMO, you can cut the moldy parts out and most of the time the rest of the plant is fine. If you are lucky enough to get through the last few weeks of bloom with no mold and high humidity, then before hanging to dry, I would separate the tops by snipping off each of the small individual buds that the top colas consist of, and dry them separately, either in a paper bag or on a mesh drying rack. I don't usually have a problem with mold on the the branches, it only seems to start to grow inside of the dense tops because the top buds grow so tightly together that no moisture can escape and it begins to mold. I like to slow dry, by hanging the branches. But on the colas, I start by snipping the buds off one by one, starting at the bottom of the cola until you reach the part that is moldy, then just toss the moldy part of the tops right in the trash. I don't try to salvage anything past where the mold starts on the cola, because the rest of the top is usually infected. So you’d toss a whole p and half for like 15gs having mold
