I just meant to say it sounds like maybe the air flow isn't set up right. Both hot and cold "side" need intake and exhaust, and depending on the location of the unit you may need to duct (duct in/out) either the cold side, the hot side, or both.

2nd and 3rd pics really show this, but the whole first page explains the concept, execution, and also the common mistakes or misunderstanding when people try and do something similar. Rest of the thread, is great too.
People also do similar diys with window acs for "tiny homes", and RVs, etc. (ie: sometimes ducting the cold side is needed (supplying return air from room/home, and then back into ac cold side), and the actual unit is entirely "outside" (of the home). Just for example.
User "Cannabean", also from that site, had to do both sides (cold and hot, evap and condense) with his build, and referenced the thread I linked above.
