Yea, I didn't mean this part. That's great you did the hvac hookup/procedure yourself, man. Great job! I had a few extra "tools" on the list I'd made up to diy this. :)

This is the part I meant I'd like to see. But yea, fairly straight forward options you laid out. Pretty cool installation, man.

Edit: Once the window ac mod/setup proves to be not enough btu, then the realization of needing to do it with a 24k minisplit will have set in.

I figured so, you sound like you know what your doing. Been growing a bit longer over 40 yrs. started when I was a teenager in California I use to sweep and cleanup at the original Sacred Seed. My best friend Kris was the youngest brother of Mendocino Joe. Him and Sam the Skunkman (Dave) was at the forefront of genetics creating strains like Skunk # 1. In the late 70’s they got raided by the DEA Joe was arrested and later went to Canada, Dave split went to the Netherlands where he continued his craft. Kris and I went into the Navy after discharge hooked back up with Dave in 87 in Amsterdam where I stayed until late 89 working for Dave I learned a lot as well as came back to the States with a couple ounces of Skunk #1 seeds which I’ve been continuously growing for over 30 years. Now retired since 2016. Managed a couple commercial grows in Colorado an Illinois, got tired of that show so now I’m just and old hippie. Lol

Mini split all day you will be thankful that u did the mini split instead of the wall unit I just finished patching my whole for a window unit and installed the mini split my self DIY mr. freeze unit it took me 4 hours to hook everything up and run a dedicated circuit to it granted I’m electrician so didn’t need a hired hand ... now my room is kept in the sweat spot all day and night I wish I did it a long time ago ... some cons with a window unit if you can’t get the back of it outdoors like me I had to build a fan box and vent all the hot air out of my house plus I had to build a contraption to also drain all the water from the back of the unit ... it’s not ideal but I made it work ... definitely wasn’t very efficient no matter I still could t keep the other side of my grow from getting warm and in turn made my central air work harder ... any way just some things to think about if your considering a wall unit .

It sounds like you maybe didn't do it quite right if those two things are true...
But hey, you've got a mini-split now anyways.

What would the right way be to do it if you can’t get the back of the unit outside?

I just meant to say it sounds like maybe the air flow isn't set up right. Both hot and cold "side" need intake and exhaust, and depending on the location of the unit you may need to duct (duct in/out) either the cold side, the hot side, or both.

People also do similar diys with window acs for "tiny homes", and RVs, etc. (ie: sometimes ducting the cold side is needed (supplying return air from room/home, and then back into ac cold side), and the actual unit is entirely "outside" (of the home). Just for example.

User "Cannabean", also from that site, had to do both sides (cold and hot, evap and condense) with his build, and referenced the thread I linked above.

Thanks for taking time to write back the link for all the that great info I enjoyed checking it out but also showed me that that's exactly how I made it exactly like that! Don't get me wrong it's doable just not very efficient way and no matter how well you build and insulated the box there is still a radiant heat that leaks in the room i had it for 1 year it worked great with a 12,200btu LG unit but now that I have the mini split it's like wow that was child's play this feels more like the big leagues lol ,

Yea, I'd agree it's definitely not the most efficient way to do it.

I assume you're mini has the condenser properly mounted outside/outdoors, which isn't a possibility for the setup I'm currently working on. So if I got a mini, I'd still have to do the same thing with it (with the condenser).

So ur saying u got that skunk No#1 original ,that road killer skunk if so what country r u in and would love to see a few pics of her growing .
