Bump….

I just wanted to see if I can get some feedback on the white”mold” that begins forming on the topsoil a few days after starting the initial “cook”

it’s been 3 days now and I’ve been keeping the soil moist as instructed.. starting to notice a white fungus form and I’m not sure if this is what’s supposed to happen as picturedon the first page of tbis post..

do I need to run a fan? I feel like that will make it dry out quicker and kill the microbes lol

any input is much appreciated!

Most likely it's mycelium. It's beneficial. Helps break down organic matter. Mulch your soil, don't put fan on it.

And normal right? I mean this is what you want to happen correct? Do I need a fan or maybe cover it with mulch or a cover crop..

mill say one thing this damn earth dust is stinking up my whole house. Had to throw them in the tent and turn the old exhaust fan / filter on. Good grief lol
Edit: to add this is an indoor grow. Any issues with mulching indoors?

Yea it's normal and beneficial. It helps break down organic matter. Absolutely Mulch it. Malted barley straw.

The stinkier the stuff, the better it works. Lol

Cannabis prefers fungally dominant soil. Not like pm, but beneficial fungus.

Yeah this is the 2nd time using earth dust. First time was last year and I saw the white disty stuff forming and freaked me out haha turns out that’s what you want lol
Yep you do! Get some kinda grokashi, kashi blend, or something comparable. Sprinkle some on top after your next top dress, and mulch after. It'll look like someone took cotton balls and spread them out, then put on top of soil. I forgot to take pics last time, but the whole top of my earthbox was covered.

Any recommendations on mulch?
