I think two things are happening here, one being, few people actually let their buds fully ripen, including a lot of experienced growers. They've bought into the scoping for some arbitrary % of milky or amber trichomes because it seems "scientific" when it is anything but. The second being, many of the traditional sativas we are talking about take 20+ months to finish flowering, so that further whittles down the # of people who are both willing to be patient, and able to keep the plants thriving for that long. All dispensary weed is harvested too early, because those extra weeks saved by early harvesting add up per cycle to tens of thousands of $$$ in extra profit per year. We are living in an era where commercial cannabis has lost much of it's traditional character due to mass homogenization, starting with the original Dutch gene thieves, and the current meta of polyhybrid pollen chucks > traditional breeding practices. One thing to consider, since sativas take so long to fully mature, im sure its much more common for them to be harvested early, therefore giving more of a head high

Deffo a factor! Although there are times where I’m glued to a patch of earth and can’t be bothered walking back lolMaybe it also depends on your mindset+location?
For istance, if you are watching a movie on the couch and you smoke some sativa, maybe it would couchlock you anyways.
On the other hand, if you are out having a walk in the woods, and you smoke some indica, you wont't feel tired but adventurous.
Idk just a thought...
Just @PadawanWarrior for this topic. He says it’s 100% true. These are also the same people going around telling others to harvest an indica early to get a sativa effect. They are completely clueless.
And there you have itI can't tell the difference...every time I smoke with my brother he starts talking about strains and how the highs are different... I just want him to shut up and pass the bowl.
After a few years I got that feeling from most weed to the point I quit smoking.Ive grown sativa's and indica dominants...my indica jars go quicker than the sativa...that's because I actually notice the effects...sativa's USUALLY makes me wanna craw out of my skin and my mind is always racing I really don't like smoking it as much...IF I'm in a good mood OR in the "party" mood yes I go for the racecar fuel (sativa) rarely....my indicas calm me down, clear my mind, and make me wanna eat...But these are my strains so they are different from what u may have...it took me awhile before I actually noticed this...so now I'm in search of CBD and THC indica dominants because I know they calm me down...I keep my sativa around because i can't bring myself to throw it out and lose that genetic...that's my take on this
Been smoking ganja close to 15 yrs and I just realized this probably last year
Tens of thousands of dollar per year? Stiiizy just pulled 5.4 billion last year. And they grow their own. Soooo.I think two things are happening here, one being, few people actually let their buds fully ripen, including a lot of experienced growers. Why don’t you buy 1:1 ? Or 2:1After a few years I got that feeling from most weed to the point I quit smoking.
I thought it was too much Sativa in the bud but then some pure indica I bought was the worst of all.
Turns out it was actually just the thc ratio.
I’ve been doing snaps where I mix like 1/3 high cbd bud with 2/3 regular bud and thats pretty much fixed the problem.
I should have been clear, at that moment, I was thinking of a family operation I know of (went to school with 2 of their boys), small potatoes, but they know they harvest early, they know exactly how much profit it makes them. And they quick dry. But dispensary weed is the best! Of course the big grow ops are doing the same thing. It's a horrible, deceitful practice.Tens of thousands of dollar per year? Stiiizy just pulled 5.4 billion last year. And they grow their own. Soooo.
I think you mean these companies harvest based off window of supply and demand. With HUNDREDS of MILLIONS at stake. With those numbers. I can’t argue. Other than it’s changing the face of flower. Shit doesn’t even smell the fucking same. Take advantage as a home grower and keep growing kill and Great smelling bud. Laugh at every one else. I believe people will figure out where the good weed is at some point.
Another point to consider is the % THC and it's effect on total dry herb smoked in a sitting. Say you intend to reach X level of "highness", you will smoke more of a 15% THC strain to get the same effect as a lesser amount of a 25% strain. What does that mean for total amount of terpenes (or other cannabinoids) ingested? It means you will ingest a greater amount of terpenes with the 15% strain. Simple fact. This has huge implications for pain management because THC is NOT the primary pain relieving agent in cannabis (but it does have a synergistic effect)-some will disagree with that, it's okay, my point stands. Terpenes like Caryophyllene have a potent pain relieving effect for me-I've actually narrowed this down through observation, research, and plenty of vaping and confirmed it by trying a product from Nootropics Depot called Rephyll, which is a stabilized form of beta-caryophyllene. It works wonders for some types of pain. For clarity in my example, each of these imaginary strains have an equal % of caryophyllene.Thc is thc, it’s the terpenes that cause the characteristics of the high.
It’s not always:
Indica = couch lock / sleep
Sativa = energy / euphoria
Take Blue Dream into consideration; a sativa leaning plant with generally an indica feeling high, which is why some label it indica (from the smoking effects) as others label it sativa (from it’s genetic roots)
It’s the terpene profile that delivers the high into different feelings, like “Speed Bud” it’s a 90% indica 10% sativa, but I get an awesome boost of energy and smoke it early morning apposed to before bed.
I wouldn’t worry about the label (indica / sativa) more so the terpene profile and what’s dominant with those.
I did get some 1:1 shatter and that’s what got me back smoking again. Why don’t you buy 1:1 ? Or 2:1
Just in local Canadian pot shops, I’ve seen a few places label it in there indica menu.Who the hell labels blue dream as an indica!? Lmao
