Greetings All,

Welcome to my perpetual garden. I'll be using this thread to document my grows and will try to update it once a week. My goal is to consolidate my 10 years of knowledge into this thread and to hopefully help out anyone that's growing in coco. I encourage discussion and welcome any questions related to growing. Thank you and enjoy!

Strain Philosophy

I'm a lover of sativa's so I strive to have those varieties in my garden over anything else. I'm not going to hate on cookie crosses as I do enjoy a few of them but favor the older strains. I think it's worth trying a strain and gaining some personal knowledge and expanding my palate over not experiencing it and gaining nothing.

Round 1 Strains
  • (1) Apple Fritter (Lumpy's Cut)
  • (1) SSSDH ("The Shire" cut aka Dr. Longbottoms cut)
  • (1) GG #4
  • (1) Garlic Cocktail #7 (Uprising Seed Co Breeder Cut)
  • (2) Artificial Tears (Lambsbread x GAS MAC)
  • (4) Lambsbread (My personal cut and breeding mother. Over 10+ years old)
  • (2) Golden Hour (Lambsbread x Headbanger)

8x4 Setup
  • 1000w HLG RSPEC Boards. I have 12 boards total running at 83.3 watts each
  • 5 Gallon Root Pouch pots (Currently have one plant in a 3 gallon to test out yields compared to a 5)
  • Canna coco
  • Sump pump hooked up to Rain Bird adjustable manifolds
  • 1/4" irrigation lines, one line per plant
  • 6" AC Infinity Extraction Fan
  • Can Fan Can-Life 420CFM Carbon Filter
  • HydroLogic RO Filter feeding into a separate reservoir
  • Pressure activated pump to feed water into the mixing reservoir
Nutrient Regimen
  • Jacks Part A & B
  • Epsom Salt
  • MKP
  • Real Growers Recharge
I switched to Jacks321 about a year ago and never looked back. There were two issues I noticed with the base nutrient formula which were the following:
  • Mixing the nutrients was a pain in the ass compared to the liquid bottles
  • Bud sizes were not as big compared to the liquid bottles
To make mixing easier I purchased three magnetic stirrers and 3" stir bars. One mixer for each part and this has made my life so much easier and is worth the investment.
To fix the smaller bud sizes I added MKP to the flower mix and that increased my bud sizes considerably.

Vegetative Mix
  • 3.6g of Part A/gallon of water
  • 1.2g of Epsom Salt/gallon of water
  • 2.4g of Part B/gallon of water
  • 2g of Recharge/gallon of water (Once a week)
Flower Mix
  • 2g of Part A/gallon of water
  • 2g of Epsom Salt/gallon of water
  • 2.7g of Part B/gallon of water
  • 1.2g of MKP/gallon of water
  • 2g of Recharge/gallon of water (Once a week)
IPM Regimen
  • Micronized Sulfur for dipping clones
  • Purecrop1 for spraying plants once a week in veg
  • SNS 209 as a systematic. Fed once every two weeks. (stop applying at least two weeks before harvest)
Week 1 of flower will start today once I grab more clones and top the plants so they don't get too tall.

Super clean man! Been chasing lumpia cut for a while! Can’t wait to see what you do with her
Thanks! I actually have an entire thread for Lumpy's Apple Fritter right here. Page 7 has the best pictures as I had to dial her in the first couple times.

I got a question about fighting russet mites so I figured I would post it here as well so other people could benefit. I got russet mites two years ago and felt a sense of dread come over me thinking I would lose all my genetics. If you do get russets, don't panic and you need to take it as an opportunity to improve as a grower and gain some valuable pest fighting knowledge. Do not think of it as a set back. Below is my method I used to beat them and they've never come back since. Other people I'm sure have their way as well but this is what I found to work. I should also mention this is only for people that want to save genetics they hold close to them. If you don't care about losing genetics then just kill all your plants off and leave your room clean and empty for 3 to 4 weeks before growing again.

Russet Mite Killing Guide

Items Needed:

  • Micronized Sulfur (I use bonide brand, 2tbsp per gallon)
  • Sprayer (I use a $100 electric paint sprayer)
  • Purecrop1
  • Cheap USB digital microscope for checking for bugs.

  1. Kill all flowering plants (I burned them all but you could also put them in trash bags and throw them away)
  2. Selected only the plants I wanted to save from the vegging area and killed off the rest.
  3. For the plants I wanted to save I stripped all branches and leaves until there was only a couple leaves left on the plant at the top. Burn or trash all this stripped material too.
  4. I then sprayed Purecrop1 on the plants from the top all the way down the trunk and also the soil and coating the underside of the leaves. Spray Purecrop1 once a day for a week. Only spray when the lights are off and the temperature is not over 90 degrees.
  5. After one week switch to spraying once every other day and monitor to make sure the plants are not getting burned.
  6. When your plants are large enough to take clones from do so. Dip each clone into sulfur for 30 seconds and swirl it around. Keep your clones in a separate room away from the vegging plants.
  7. Once your clones are ready to be rooted dunk them one more time in sulfur for 30 seconds and then plant them. Monitor your clones and check them for russets every day or so.
  8. When you know your clones are healthy and growing well, kill off the plants in your veg room.
  9. After your veg and flower room are empty, clean them and make sure you don't have any plant material laying around.
  10. Leave those rooms empty for 3 to 4 weeks. Russets need plant material to feed on and if you take away their food source they'll all die out.
  11. After the 3-4 week timeframe has passed. Confirm you don't see russets on your clones and if they're clean then you can bring them back into your grow rooms and start a new.
  12. To prevent them in the future you can spray with Purecrop1 once a week and also use SNS 209 as a systematic preventative.

Started 2nd week of flower today. Everything is looking green and healthy. I used bamboo stakes to open the plants up to get some more light into the lower portion of the plant. I'll trim off the lower branches around week 3.

Here we are at week 3. Everything will start to get interesting now. The canopy has been filled in nicely. Garlic Cocktail's stretch is insane. Never seen a plant stretch as much as this one. I had to bend it back onto it's self to just keep it around the same height as the canopy. Might have to start doing video updates since these pano photos come out kind of wobbly.

Was able to grab a pack of Bandaid Haze IX 3.0 from Doc D seeds. Will hopefully be able to run these next cycle. I hear great things about Bandaid Haze #7 so this progeny should be great.

Starting Week 4 of flower. Everything looks healthy and nodes are starting to stack nicely. Decided to also add a video to each update to get a better view of the room as the panos don't capture everything.

A couple days late but here's week 5. This garlic cocktail has shot above the lights and I'm just over her and don't want to move the light up to accommodate one plant. Will probably be the last time I run her.

A few bud shots at the start of week 6. Keeping room humidity around 55%-60% with plenty of air flow. Golden Hour has been stacking hard and can't wait to see the golf ball nugs start to pack on.

Here we are at week 7. Will start flushing everything except for SSSDH as that will finish about 2 weeks later.

One thing I notice between the 3 gallon and the 5 gallon pot is the plant exhibits a bit differently. For Apple Fritter when ran in the 5 gallon the leaves get much darker, almost black. In the 3 gallon they turn more of a light purple. I also noticed that in the 3 gallon the plant was hungrier and started to draw nutrients from the leaves earlier than I liked. The yield looks to be on par if not the same compared to a 5 gallon pot. I'll wait till the end of this run to make a decision but it seems like I'll be sticking with 5 gallons. Okay now onto the photos.

A little behind on the update but in the middle of week 8. Started harvesting the gorilla glue #4 and Artificial Tears. I'll post individual plant photos as I cut them down. I would of liked to get full plant pictures but it's flop city in there so not worth it to me.

Sorry for the lack of updates but harvest has been happening and got a great yield. The shire is the only plant left and should come down this week. The Apple Fritter that grew in the 3 gallon pot yielded 4.2oz's which surprised me. So the 3 gallon pots can yield just as well as the 5 gallons. I'm going to stick to the 5 gallons still as they give me a bit more flexibility to miss a day of watering as the 3 gallons are not as forgiving. I'll post some more dry bud photos when I get time. Below is Golden Hour.

Garden is still going just haven't had much time to update. We have a star studded line up this run. I'm in week 3 of flower right now and have the following strains:

-Motorbreath #15
-Legend OG
-G13
-Oreoz
-ECSD
-Trinity
-Lambsbread
-Apple Fritter
-GG #4
-Chem 91 Skunk VA cut

I'm the most excited for Trinity as I've been waiting for years to try this girl. She's got broad leaves and a skunky stem rub so far. We'll see what she can bring to the table in the coming weeks.

Here's some pics from last run. Oreoz didn't yield too big of buds but I did transplant it into a 5 gallon and put it into flower immediately. When I grow her again she'll get a proper veg and we'll see then. Trinity was the stand out plant for me out of all the new strains. Great yield, amazing smell, frosted buds. Legend OG was weak in my opinion. Low yield, small nugs, had a nice nose but that was about it.
