i hate this bs peat can be used and done sustainably i prefer it in my mixes i wish people would do things correctly instead of the cheapest way possible like they do just now u cant say shipping fucktons of coco coir as a substitute as environmentally sound replacement i think banning it outrights nuts

Coconuts float. Should just haul em over here like that lol

I order my peat online so not seen it disappear from shops. Looking into recycling my peat as it seems a waste to only use it once.

oh no! if they let them float over i am not the one who want to wash out the salt, lol.

peat if working pretty good and predictable, theyre reducing the used amount of peat here but the proffesional gardening industry cant skip on it completly for now as they need predictable results.

I am using Pro Mix, Sunshine 4 and a small bag of Miracle Gro Organic that some was used in 2016. I dump it outside. It's rained on and snow covers it for months. I add new medium annually because peat does degrade easily. But I can make a new bale of either last a season by mixing. I don't add lime but do use a load of Xtreme Gardening Mykos WP and Recharge.

I live in a dry cabin in deep Interior Alaska. I haul every drop of water I use. Outhouse before anyone asks. Dry.

It's 45 miles to Fairbanks. I have to use water stations like thousands of others here. At -30 sometimes if you need water.

The thought of pouring volumes of water through something every day strikes this old desert rat as nuts. Just go hydro. Simple DWC will give you the largest plant possible in a short period of time.

While i sympathize and yet envy ur individual choices, the sidestepping of the water/coco thing is what was bothering me...some people think peat is more important than water?...umm, i should go now ;)
