I agree with the above poster!
Kind and encouraging words their sir +rep!Aww man, i'm new to this forum, just been browsing the web looking for some info on LED lights and i stumbled upon your thread leggo and it took me back to my first grow!
I'm gutted that this isn't an old thread and i can't read through to the end. It's like watching Lost or 24, you just gotta keep reading, lol!
Boy do i remember the stress, the worry, the pain when my girls were sick! You really got some grief from some idiots early on, totally uncalled for. All credit to DL for sticking with you though. Way to go man!!
Now, i haven't grown in a while and am just getting my kit together to start up again, hopefully you guys'll stay tuned and watch how i go. But more of that later!
As for your last set of Q's the answer is All of the Above!
Basically it's a culmination (big word for a stoner) of events that have lead to the roots getting into the water and the plants realizing it!
Leave things as they are just now, let your girls do their thing, you might need to take the HPS up a bit as the tops get closer to it - basically put your hand (palm down) at the level with the top of your leaves and if you can feel the heat (warm = ok, heat = bad) on the back of your hand you should move the HPS up a tad, (BTW, I like the use of the CFL's tho, the blue light helps keep them from stretching too much and the HPS gives them most of what they need.)
Keep an eye on the water level and if all's going well in a few days, when you need to top up you could go to 1/2 strength.
Also keep an eye on the pH, as the plants use the nutes they use certain chemicals and leave others behind and can fuck around with the pH so just watch out for that.
All seems to be going well for you at the mo dude, especially after such a shaky start!
Oh man, i can't wait for the next episode!
if ph down is your problem you can try your growing hand at making some. its a money saver for people with high ph'ed water.Kind and encouraging words their sir +rep!
Glad you can pull up a seat, I really hope its all uphill from here, but who knows. I just think I'm finally over that poor start...
I just topped with another gall today, so water is just at the bottom of the pots again... after that I think I'll let them drop a bit, and keep it about 1" below.
Next time I top though, I think I may go 1/2 nutes, we'll just see how they are by then...
I always keep a good watch on pH... its a little high right now, as I got to get pH down today. I first had a little squeeze bottle from 'API' (1-2 drops/gallon) that worked good... then when that ran out I got a big bottle from 'Top Fin" but bigger bottle just eant bigger dosages (5-10ml/gallon!)
So that bottle just barely made past my res change (my tap water is around 7.6-8.0) so I have to use a good bit of 'down' during water changes...
sorry for the tangent.
ooooooo.... lemme check this out. Anybody have any luck with homemade pH up/down??if ph down is your problem you can try your growing hand at making some. its a money saver for people with high ph'ed water.

Now, i'm off to find me some LED's. . . .
. . . ebay, here i come. . .
1: Fox (the tallest) is at 6" but that is the tip of the leaves, the stalk is about 5.5"1) How tall are your ladies now?
2) When are you planning on switching to 12/12?
3) Did you ever paint your cupboard white?
4) Yours is a 150w HPS, Right? How far above the girls is it at the moment?
Oh yeah, I wasn't jumping into anything with the home brew pH down... I'll see what's out there, if anything I'll just go back to what I was using first, seemed to work okayblackthorn is right for the most part. when working with chemicals please be safe and diy's can be unpredictable. i have been making my own ph down for my soil plants outside for a long while and have had great results myself. i didnt go with the homemade ph down on the dwc grow because it is my first so wanted a more controled substance but rest assure that when i have this down i will be implimenting my homemade stuff. but im a very big diy girl and to each their own. good things good things.
