The 'fail' class. That's an overgeneralization if ever there was one. Talk about lumping together a big and diverse group and then dismissing them!
Just because lots of people complain about how fucked up the system is doesn't mean they're wrong. Of course they're right. The occasional exception proves the rule, but the level of opportunity and thus social mobility in this country is lagging behind the rest of the industrialised world.
It's unsustainable and it will render us an also ran country very quickly if it's allowed to continue. This will hurt everyone, possibly the rich worst of all. This might be the justification needed for the rich to go along with a new plan.

Back to Ukraine, the original topic. I just had the rare opportunity to speak with someone with decades of experience at the very top levels of government in exactly that part of the world.
He said that a situation where Russian tanks occupy the eastern part of the country as a buffer zone against western aggression and to 'protect' the local ethnic Russian population will be seen by all sides as an acceptable outcome and a chance to save face.
Western Ukraine can continue tilting towards the West, and eastern Ukraine can stay firmly within the Russian orbit.
Any chance of digging Putin's tanks out and throwing back the invasion has passed.
Putin is emboldened by each success of his bullying, goaded on by a population that thinks his antics have their best interests at heart.

Just in time for winter, an invigorating new crisis pops its head up. It was first discovered by the American intelligence services, which started warning that Russian tanks were moving west several weeks ago. Ukraine played down the reports at first, but now it’s begging for new weapons to resist the allegedly impending attack.
Here we go again. All the players know the steps of the dance, and some of them even enjoy it. The purpose, however, is obscure.
First, let’s consider the Russian tanks "moving west" and threatening the borders of Ukraine. One significant Russian military force did move west last month: the 41st Combined Arms Army, which was transferred from Novosibirsk in western Siberia to Yelnya southwest of Moscow.
That puts it 280 kilometres from the Ukrainian frontier, which is not exactly breathing down the necks of the Ukrainians. The Russian troops that really are near Ukraine’s borders in the east and in the Crimean peninsula are exactly where they were before this "crisis."
So why did the 41st Combined Arms Army (around 30,000 soldiers) move almost 4,000 kilometres west last month? Here’s a clue: It’s now 280 kilometres north of the Ukrainian border, but it’s less than 100 kilometres from the border of Belarus.
It’s not there to invade Belarus right now, of course. "President" Alexander Lukashenko, still clinging to power there after rigging an election last year and crushing the massive protest movement that ensued, is a long-standing Russian ally. The 41st Army’s job is to keep Lukashenko in power if it can, and to ensure that his successor is friendly to Moscow if he falls.
That didn’t work for Russian President Vladimir Putin in the case of Ukraine, where not one but two different pro-Moscow leaders have been overthrown by popular revolutions and the current leadership wants to join NATO (which is essentially an anti-Russian alliance). It may not work in the Belarusian case, either – but that’s why the 41st Army is on the Belarusian border.

If the Ukraine is divisible, so too is Russia, they got several time zones of virgin Siberian land China would like to have and it's just across the border. Russia has an economy the size of Italy's and NATO has how many countries with larger ones, not including the USA? Vlad along with his buddy's has a lot of investments in the west, money that can be found and confiscated.

He also said that "the Ukrainian authorities’ aggressive and increasingly intensive provocative action on the line of contact” was contributing to fears about hostilities increasing. He added that it seemed like “the Ukrainian leadership doesn’t exclude a forceful scenario,” citing comments made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian officials, the AP reported.
Ukrainian officials, however, have denied any plans to reclaim rebel-ruled regions forcefully, according to the wire service.
Meanwhile, after a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said “we are closely working together on developing a comprehensive deterrence package, including severe economic sanctions, to demotivate Russia from further aggressive moves.”
On Wednesday, Blinken warned that Russia has “stepped up planning for potential military action in Ukraine, including positioning tens of thousands of additional combat forces near the Ukrainian border.”
He promised that the U.S. would respond “resolutely” should Russia conduct an attack, “including with a range of high-impact economic measures that we have refrained from using in the past.”
That same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is seeking “reliable and long-term security guarantees” that NATO would not expand near Russia’s border amid ongoing concerns about Moscow’s potential invasion of Ukraine.
