Here it is guys, 2022 ... my whole family is locked down with the rona ... my son's out shooting baskets, my daughters are making tik toks, my wife's yelling at everyone, and I'm searching through strains for this years greenhouse candidates that won't mold .... I can't believe we shut down the world for a runny nose.

what's everyone plan on growing this year?

At the moment I'm testing indoors Maui Wowie, Bubba Kush, (Kosher Kush Breath x mendo montage), Salami Leg, Silky Johnson and a couple of my own crosses, Johnnywide (white widow x silky johnson) and a no name (johnnywide x peanut butter breath)

I have high hopes for the Maui Wowie ... the cut came from an old friend in Hawaii... we served together in the late 90's, he taught me how to grow back then, and we've been in touch ever since

I know it sounds screwed up.... why would a strain from Hawaii do well in New England? ... my answer is, I don't know and it's a total shot in the dark. He tells me it's done really well out there for the last few years in very high humidity and has never showed sign of mold... i'm going with it ... It's supposed to be a sativa leaning bud structure on an indica shaped plant

I haven't fired up the flower tent yet... just been pulling clones from the strains I have vegging now ... based on where they are now I should have the tent fired up within the next couple weeks.

Running 10 Afghan Selections’ Sholgar and 5 of either The Real Seed Co.’s Kabul, my own backcross of Hawaiian Hashbud X (Hawaiian Hashbud X Balkhi), or repros of Balkhi or Waziri. Will pop April 1.

Hoping the Sholgar keep to the stated size. Growing 15 footers this past year was certainly interesting but I’d rather stay a couple rungs lower down on the ladder lol. The Sholgar do look purty -

I know that they're really pricey but do you think one of these would work or be worth it for the greenhouse ? Home - AirROS by SAGE Industrial Surface & Air Purifiers (airrosshield.com)

Still great to have mold resistance but perhaps it may be a fail-safe

Nizza! how you doing man? Happy New Year.

Yes I think that could be exactly what I need. Not sure how pricey it would be though, typically anything that requires you "request a quote", is pretty damn expensive... lol .... i requested a quote nonetheless, I'll let you know what they come back with

My original plan included adding a hepa filter on the intake end of the greenhouse .... but a 24x24 hepa filter isn't exactly cheap either (about $300)

I am good bro ! Hope all is going well with u man I read that last outdoors there was problems with mold that freaking sucks

That greenhouse u built is badass man. I want to say that Airros is around 10grand which is nuts, and I don't even know how well it would work for a greenhouse.

I'm sure there are other solutions , it reminds me of this product I install for some customers called the reme halo, it also produces peroxide or whatever and I use them in duct systems

Every where I look in the fall there is mildew so it just seems like a really tough battle. I wonder if treating your whole property with compost tea or something similar that would eat PM might help out

It would be cool to have a light dep system on your greenhouse too , to get things flowered before our humidity season but I don't know where you could start unless you had to do it manually each day. That would suck lol

I think this year I'm gonna do some outdoors , I'll let you know how it goes. My dad still has a cut of that MOB but the last time I got that and some other clones from him they ended up with PM .

Did u ever figure out a way to rig up that big dehu?

Not sure if you've already checked them out but The Mantis here is a breeder and makes a lot of cool old school crosses which made me think of you. I got a free pack of funky cold medina last year from them and it was a great high, I wonder if they have anything that would be good for our weather
I think I'm gonna get a skunk, c99, or gmo cross next year to try out. I saw they have a skunk cross and their packs are only 45$/10 regs which sounds decent

Oh yeah the site is plant time genetics

Yea, I got cooked last year with mold. It was mostly because I was lazy though ... i figured out that my dehu has autostart, so all i had to do was connect it to the inkbird and it would kick on and off ... problem is i never bothered to hook it up out there last year. This year I plan to disinfect the entire greenhouse in early spring and dial RH in like I had it a cpl years ago, only better.

If my weed molds up again this year I may end up just growing gourmet mushrooms year round in the greenhouse instead ... im able to grow all the weed I would ever need indoors, and could just throw a few plants outside in pots to get my outdoor fix... i really have no need for all the weed this greenhouse can produce

I've been getting into growing oyster and shiitake mushrooms lately and my microclimate is actually perfect for it... the greenhouse only needs a few minor mods to create a perfect climate for mushrooms.... and I have an endless supply of fresh oak and maple logs to inoculate with mushroom spawn. I started chopping and drilling the logs back in early november. I hope to drill a thousand logs this winter but I won't have enough fully inoculated in time to need the greenhouse for them this year so I'll just grow ganj out there this year.

thats frickin awesome man!
Are you going to be journaling it? That looks very interesting

Do you use silica with your outdoor plants? I know it's supposed to help a lot with disease and pest resistance
You've been doing all organic now right? I guess horsetail is supposed to be abundant in silica

perhaps some sort of UV supplement during the dewy hours or something may also help prevent shit. I don't really know though, just throwing ideas out there man!

I lost 3 family members. Not immediate family, but people I grew up spending reunions and holidays with! You’re right, it’s no fucking joke!

Winter testers are all doing pretty well ... so far the best performer is a cross of a cross I made a couple years ago ... the original was White Widow x Silky Johnson ... I've grown that out quite a few times with decent success ... in the fall I took a strong male from that cross and crossed it with a Big Buffalo female that was really nice ... so far it's the best performer, but there's no telling how it will do outside, indoors is so much easier
