Black ash

Do you wait for the stem to snap completely or just crack when you bend it?
I don't check how the stem snaps.........I dry for about 4-5 days........then into jars.
If my reading is around 70% I lay them out for a couple of hours.......then back in the jars to rehydrate.
I keep doing that until my humidity stabilizes around 65%
Stop obsessing over the color of the ash.

I'm more obsessed about the flavor and smell and its definitely changed since I've jarred it

Stems are different sizes and just an indicator from the past
Stems give no place in final product
Don’t use that
Given your current luck
Next run focus on a slow complete dry
I don’t care if it falls apart in grinding at least it will be enjoyable to smoke if not marketable
Baby steps
I’m sorry but no one can fix your current stash

Would you mind if you told me your drying and curing method? Just looking for some advice. Thanks
Cut the stalks as short as possible, just enough to hang. Excess stalk seems to delay dry time.
The closet is the best place to dry in my home.
There’s no HVAC duct, it’s dark and cool.
My bud is usually dry in 5 days, 7 max.
After that I let it finish up in jars, open em up an hour a day until I like where they are.
They will always lose moisture, never gain.
So it’s always better to be a little on the moist side than the dry one.

You’re getting good knowledge here.
Nutrients are not the culprit.

That's what I thought my current stash is definitely ruined....i must have jarred too early...my drying room temps were in the low 55 and humidyr around 60 percent. That sounds like it would take more than 14 days to dry. I will either lower my humidy or raise my temps next time to reassure proper drying. Thank you for your advice

Do you have a hygrometer?

Yes and they never got above 60 after I laid the buds overnight. But still taste nasty and smell dissipated
Try without the hygrometer next time.
Go by feel. Squeeze the Charmin.
When YOU think it’s getting near ready, put em in jars.
Keep them open quite a bit.
The buds will continue to dry, but just slower.
I have friends who grow but can’t grasp the drying aspect.
Too much faith in numbers. Next thing you know the buds are over dried and lose their aroma cuz the hygrometer was wonky.
All assuming you’re on a home scale grow, not commercial.
