iD me wanted to use my webcam to verify I am who I am, never got it to work. Uploaded a few different forms of ID for a referee to judge whether I am me, wait time was over 4 hours for the video meeting. Guess I'll have to figure out how to use our smartphone to get it accomplished.
I recently ordered a new eye glasses Rx online.

I had to send them a selfie so they could get a specific measurement.

After 5 tries to get an excepted photo, and some curt text exchange with their customer service, the order was accepted.:finger:

Painful as the process was I am pleased with the product received.

I just recently tried a brick and mortar store again.....after a few years doing online. I'm going back online for my glasses. I might try one other place nearby but I'm not happy and they are much more expensive than online.

I figure by ordering online there was a savings of around $200.
And if you have to take time from work to pick out, get fit.....it all costs more. And I'm not seeing any benefits to brick and mortar anymore. I am willing to check out the other place. But we'll see if it's any better. I don't have like a Pearl vision here only small places.

I used to use the TurboTax program that was free thru the IRS Free-File but Intuit has withdrawn TT from the program. Could have got the CD (TT Deluxe) from Amazon ($39.99) but read there are/were a few problems with the downloading. The disc was "made for Amazon" whatever that means.. Ended up getting a factory one from Meijer's ($49.99) with a $5.00 instore discount. Installed without a hitch and the license code let's you also download the .exe file from Intuit. I really hate doing taxes and TT is the most BB idiot proof program I have found ;)
I always buy the TT Home and Business (I have to fill out a schedule C). I always get it from Amazon via download and it's always worked for me, including this year. I had to upgrade my computer because my older one wouldn't meet the OS requirement. Its' hardware was too old to run that application.

ID.me took about 10-15 minutes a couple years ago.

I did that with my prescription Gunnars and was quite pleased with the results and now I need to get on it and get another pair ordered! I'm just waiting on Omicron. But the process was a bit fiddly too.

I have always been able to make the appointments within acceptable terms.

My last visit was the kicker.

The inept staff could not explain the documents they wanted signed and the optometrist insulted my intelligence.

In the future my encounters with inept staff are cut. Next year I'll find a new optometrist. :?

I just go to anyplace with an autorefractor. It's worked well for me.

At first she asked me where the ones I was using came from since I was a new customer. When I said Zenni she had an attitude and talked down about them. Then when I asked for my pupil distance since I'd be ordering basic shop glasses (metal dust is killer on lenses) she talked down to me and said "well she wouldn't ever fix or fit them...who knows what they're made of. They come from China." And I already bought 4 pairs from her.....regs and suns for my wife and I.......not fucking cheep! Thought I'd "keep it local".......What a dipshit it all comes from China....they have to adhere to safety standards and really I can fit some glasses manipulation of materials is my specialty.

I’m good for bricks but could use a few large-bore mortars.

Yes, when my brother and I both signed up this past Nov for ID.me it took about 20 minutes. And was pain free. We both started it on a desktop PC at work and at some point had to continue on our phones for 2 factor authentication and the drivers license and selfie portion, then finished on the PC. So I wonder if we just did it all on the phone, if it would've have been even faster and easier.

I signed up on my Mac, have yet to use it on a phone.

Does everyone here use Camel Camel Camel? If not you should check it out.

What is it? Mainly a browser extension that shows pricing trends for 90% of products on Amazon. It allows you to set price targets for things you want to purchase. When the item hits at, or below your target pricing you get an email to go buy it (of which they get an alleviate link cut). It's great for things you WANT, but don't NEED, and are willing to wait for a good deal on.

I don't. I just use the list feature on Amazon. If you use their phone app you can get push notifications of price changes but I don't use that either. I don't install extensions or apps that collect personal data.
