no, i think maybe there is, Biden and most of the democrats aren't really that left, but compared to the republicans they are, and jayapal, sanders, porter, pocan, grijalva, lee, and omar are much further left than them...whether they would have been called progressives ten years ago or not, they are now

because republicans are horrible people who don't give a flying fuck about anyone but themselves, and that's what makes you think democrats suck...because you're an asshole who wants the entire world to bow down to you and tell you and all your republikkkan friends that you built the world we all live in, and we all owe you enough from that that we should just let you run everything, and not question you....
while the reality is that you've been the source of 99% of the countries problems since it's inception, and you just all keep getting worse...EVERY republican president has led the country into a recession, EVERY ONE, but you keep trying to tell everyone that the democrats are the fiscally irresponsible ones...republikkkans lead a fight to remove voting rights from minorities, they want to tell women what they can and can't so with their bodies, they want to let the infrastructure of the country continue to crumble, because it might cost their wealthy owners a small percentage of their obscene profits they reap from big pharma and petro...you landed in the wrong forum, on the wrong site, magat

that's not what they were elected for..."representatives" are called that for a reason...people elect them because they think they will represent their interests in the senate or congress, and no one wants their mother in the senate telling them they need to go to bed at 11 and to eat their fiber.
no reasonable person expects their representatives to do everything they want them to do, but they do expect them to do at least a few of the things they promised to do while running for office, otherwise they wouldn't have voted for them
so if a representative is elected from an area that has a lot of morons..they're sort of required to do a few moronic things to serve their moronic interests..or else they aren't a representative, they're a mother substitute

maybe, but Temujin has been dead for over 800 years, and ted cruz and matt gaetz are still here. Biden and most democrats are to the left of them, and the progressives are to the left of most democrats...
while i realize that 50 years ago, today's democrats would have been centrists and the progressives would have been fairly conservative liberals, this isn't 50 years ago, and i don't feel like refering to them in past tense...so they're liberals and far left liberals now

Maybe I was not clear: people’s interests, and what they say or sometimes think they are, are not the same. I expect discretion to be part of the job in Federal or state government.

Otherwise, we would need no legislative bodies, merely tabulators of direct voting by Internet. That would be somewhat chaotic with our current divided political household.

Far left is anarcho-communism. So no. Our leftmost are social democrats. Free healthcare, free education, and inclusive social policy aren’t even socialist, since I haven’t heard any Democrat on the national stage call for nationalizing the means of production. I’d be all for nationalizing the major insurances, as I think they are some of our most powerful corporate masters.
