False dichotomy. Just because Manchinema voted against an infrastructure spending bill doesn't mean they won't vote for Biden's pick for SCOTUS.

This is a SCOTUS nominee and their voting record on court nominees shows good agreement with other Democrats in that area. I'm not predicting the future, just doing what they say not to do in the financial industry. They say "past performance is not an indication of future results" then they make recommendations based upon past performance. So, Manchinema's past voting record shows they vote for Biden's choice for judges. So, I'm guessing that's what's going to happen in his SCOTUS appointment.

Sinema, for example. How does her voting record compare to Nancy Pelosi? In the 2017-2018 Congress, Pelosi and Sinema voted the same way 736 times and disagreed 227 times, 9 of which were major bills and all but one of them were spending bills. She fails in many ways but doesn't sink to the level of even the best Republican.

you're only as good as your last year; then come a new year..Manchin and Sinema against Joe Rob's Legacy? we'll see Sinema was censured as she should be but what about Mr. West Virginny? speaking of Ginny..

Manchin’s brand revolves around his constant promotion of a long-dead world of consensus politics. Throughout negotiations over the American Rescue Plan, Manchin remained in contact with Republican senators and even said on Fox, “I have made it very clear ... we're going to make this work in a bipartisan way. My friends on the other side are going to have input. And we're going to do something that we agree on. I'm not just going to do it just down the lines of, just saying party line vote.” Over and over, he said that it was crucial for the bill to pass with bipartisan support and criticized the budget reconciliation process.

But Manchin, like President Biden, didn’t settle for the paltry (and likely ingenuine) offer from ten Republicans of a bill that would provide not even one-third of the investment proposed by Democrats. Instead, he moved on to steps four and five: announcing support and voting with Democrats. Despite his prior comments opposing a party-line split, Manchin agreed in early February to begin the budget reconciliation process to pass the bill without Republican support. And although he was able to modify some parts of the bill, Manchin not only voted for the American Rescue Plan, but left its major provisions and price tag intact.

Manchin is already repeating the cycle on infrastructure

We know what happened to the infrastructure bill. He voted against it and he voted against passage of a voting rights bill indirectly by sustaining the filibuster. He's not a Republican but he works for Republicans. Few Democrats manage to (or are willing to) walk that path. I'd hate him if he were my senator but he's not. Still, though. Looking at his record, he's better than the worst Republican. By a large margin. So, no. You can dislike him but his record indicates he won't torpedo Biden's choice for SCOTUS.

Then again, past performance is not an indication of future results. As they say, "You decide".

But can't the Democrats still get changing the filibuster done with 50 regardless of how many they have? So if they have say 54 Democrats, they wouldn't need to have all 60 unless they wanted to pass it straight up like Obama did with Obamacare right?
