Tent covers for light leaks?

Well I’ve looked through every scientific paper I can find and there’s absolutely nothing. Allegorical evidence is barely worth shit. Duke Dahlia? Lol.

Just searched for Duke Dahlia. Nothing. Post a link for him please.
It's Purple Dahlia from Dominion Seed Company. That reference to humic acid causing hermaphrodites is just a blurb in the seed description. There isn't going to be any scientific paper. Apparently 88 G-13 HashPlant is in the lineage and they're claiming that humic acid cause it it to hermie. There is also a Duke Diamond Vault strain made with 88 G-13 and a blurb for that says not to use humic acid.

As far as I can tell this originated on the seedsherenow website and is now floating around the cannabis forums with people acting like it's fact. I don't believe it to be true.

Well I have read scientific papers and humic REDUCED the incidence of hermaphroditism. However it also reduced THC at the top of the plant by 37%. Why I asked for some proof of his claim.

I’ve never had an issue from seed or clones. Now if there’s a strong source of light very close to a hole bigger than a pinhole you might. But I think most people getting hermies get them from overall stress and genetics.
Exactly, intense lights inside tent, normal room light outside tent. Those pinholes don't look like much when ya zip yourself inside the tent.

I have no idea what it means but I flowered one under a 3 watt desk lamp running 24-7!

My first flower crop after moving back to Alaska happened in my 1-room tiny cabin next to a frosty window. No tent or anything else. Left the lights off for the most part. Read using a headlight. But I watched movies every night on the television and I used the kitchen lights when necessary. Not a single hermie. No nanners. So I laugh at light through pinholes.

Is it fair to say that the majority of people don't believe light leaks to be a major reason or contributor to hermie probs then? Or is this only a problem if growing from seed? I have grown clones myself without issues with light leaks as I often left vents open without problems. Thanks.
I have vents that stay open and I've never had hermie problems... My errors in growing have caused them though!!! I hermied some autos once!!! I plant the ones that are suitable and some put out seeds again and some don't... I try to catch them when they are putting out balls and clip them before they flower... Been pretty good at it too so far..

I would simply sheath over a whole 4x4 tent with 4x8 rigid foam mylar backed insulation panels.

Shiny side towards the inside, black paint on the white foam side.

Seal the corners and seams with tape.

Notch out any holes for vents or whatnot.

Make the front panel with the door attach with velcro for easy removal.

The 1/2" thick panels are cheap at HD/Lws, and it would add r-value to your tent walls.

It would dampen the sounds too, if you have a hydro system, pumps, etc.

Insulation is always a good thing!

I use super huge, super high quality sunblock curtains and hang them all around my flower tents. It was very expensive and a pain In the ass to lightproof them and keep the environment solid while they are so insulated. However I have it down now and it’s necessary when you have 4 tents in one room and half are vegging 24/0 and no tent is perfectly light proof and it’s fucked me in the ass before so ‍♂

I don't understand how your tents can be so holey that light leaking from a tent could cause problems in another tent. My tent door zipper broke and I just hung a sheet of panda poly in front and use a couple of clamps to hold the doors.

It’s more so the ambient light from the rest of room not other tents. Cuz I unfortunately have to use the place I grow for other shit so lights are constantly on in some fashion so I had to create a solid dark corner. Indicator lights on appliances in the tents are another annoyance but tape works decently.

What about the moon on certain nights when it’s super bright? My secret jardin has pin holes in it, and one of the vent hole has light leaks in the stitching. I stepped inside with bright lights on outside of it. You can see tiny light thru them, but it doesn’t come in and you can’t make out anything in front of you like you can on a bright moon lit night.

It could have been something I was doing wrong but the one and only tent I had gave me hermies in the exact same corner of the tent almost everytime.

It was right where the door zipper was located.

Kinda hard to believe it was anything other than light leaks causing it as the rest of the plants never hermied.

But who knows for sure, it's all just speculation.

I got sick of it and built a sealed room and when I sit in there in the dark for 10 minutes, I still can't see my hand in front of my face.
