Ec rising IN RESERVOIR

I've done nothing but hydro and I'm no where near a comfortable enough level to try organic. I understand why some insist on it but I'd learn the ropes first b4 attempting it. Just adds another level of complexity and imo you still have training wheels on. Crawl b4 you walk
What are you referring to? I am currently doing a sterile clay pebbles run with canna aqua

Ok thanks. Because you said that BioBizz is organic I changed to Canna Calmag but reading that, first thing tomorrow I will buy Canna Coco A+B and get on with life.

And another specific question: My plants appear to show signs of nitrogen/iron deficiency but you also suggested to decrease the EC. How should I go on about this?
If you already bought Calmag from Canna stick with that, Canna Coco is not needed if you supplement with Calmag. The problem is not nutrient strength, it's access to the nutrients. If you run to high EC early on you're only going to cause lockouts of a range of nutrients.

The roots are probably not happy and we'll established yet. Drop all the organics and stick to the plan. I would run 800ppm and 200 of that being Calmag. They need time to recover, spread out the watering throughout the day. 15min 5 times in 24h. 3 times a day and two times during lights out is a good start.

Organic nutes. From what I've read here running organic is kinda finicky and probably not the best for a first time run. I hope you get straight so you can enjoy it..

Okay thanks will do. Currently I am watering 7x over 24h (5x/day and 2x/night). They seem to like the watering schedule.

Because I thought my EC was too high I went so low that I am way lower than 800 ppm. More like 500-600 ppm. I will up to 1300 us/cm (about 600-800ppm) if you think its appropriate.

Thank you. I already followed advice and am not organic anymore. I tried a few things but absolutely fell in love with bleach as @Wastei suggested. Up to now that advice of him safed my run.

Hey guys, haven't had any chance the last few days. I think my initial problems are finally completely sorted out thanks to you. But I still have some slight yellowing on a few leaves. Brown spots on 3 leaves overall but still.

Up to date pictures attached; again each plant respectively followed by leaves showing damage.

Just finishing first week of flowering.
27-30°C air temp
40-50% rel humid
CO2 enriched
1200 μmol/s/m^2 PPFD (6 high intensity cob leds; each 70W)

16-19°C water temp
pH about 5.8 to 6.2
EC about 1600 (800-1000ppm) since now
(EC was 1400 (700-850ppm) this week until now)

@Bucsfan80 Thanks. I also think so

@Wastei Hey how are you?

Could you please take a quick look at my current pics and tell me whether I have an ongoing deficiency or what else I should do?

They look very pretty so I want to act quick now

Looking way better, maybe slight light bleaching but other than that they look good. Good job, just keep doing what you're doing. Hard to tell on color with lights on but it's night and day difference from the first pictures you posted.

Hello everyone.

My setup:
I have a small 1.5m x 0.8m, 4 plant hydroponics setup. I got them as clones but I think it's their 4th week veg.
Plants are grown in 7.5L off brand airpots, filled with clay pebbles and watered 2x a day for 5mins via small flex hose rings with self drilled holes.
They get distilled water with Canna Aqua Veg + Biobizz CalMag + great white (once per res change aka once a week) at an EC 0.9 ms/cm and pH of 5.8 though it rises to about 6.0 over a day. I then pH down it to about 5.8 again.
Reservoir contains about 10L with 3 air stones from overall 2 pumps and a mixing pump for more agitation.

Condition:
Air temp: 25°C
Rel humid: ca. 60-70%
Co2 enriched
Water temp: 16°C
And overall about 250W of COB LED (5000K) with probably 40cm distance
Multiple fans

My problem is that my EC is rising in the reservoir over the day and even overnight pretty dramatically when they aren't watered. Yesterday night 0.9. Today morning about 1.3. pH is stable overnight and just seems to rise after feeding but then also pretty quickly. I had the same problem last grow but this time it's starting right at the beginning. 3 of the 4 look kind of healthy but maybe a little droppy. One of them on the other hand gets dry leaves that curl upward with brown spots. I almost get the feeling as if they have a deficiency and the EC rise is nutrient unrelated but I don't really know.

I had pretty bad root rot and a bit of green algae (although I think not to the point that it was dramatic at least) last grow but cleaned everything with a disinfectant (2% purolyt so 20ml concentrate in 1L; sensors, hoses and connectors, walls...) and replaced the clay pebbles and the pots afterwards. But this time the plants don't look affected the same way they did last time.

Attached photos are just of the sick plant but I will post the others later when I get the chance.

Any advice, recommendation, suggestion, thoughts or prayers... At this point really anything, is greatly appreciated.

If I left anything important from tubing length to dick size just ask and I'll respond ASAP.
Is it a recirculating system Or a flood and drain that uses the same water every day?

If so and your ec is rising then you are getting a lot of evaporation... you'll need to top up your res every day... kand readjust ph and nutes...with clay balls you night aswell keep it running the whole time.

Also try and find a way to reduce evaporation.... get some black and white film and cover the pots

@Bucsfan80 ok will do. Thanks.

@Wastei ok thanks. will increase the height. They sure did appreciate the changes I made and you recommended.

@oill thanks. recirculating top feed drip my EC is pretty stable currently. I decreased evaporation significantly by burying the irrigation outlets beneath about 2" of clay pebbles. That did definitely help. I made that change about 2 weeks ago.

Hey guys, hows it going?

@Wastei Could you take a look?

My plants seem to progress without any major (or any really... at least to my eyes) deficiencies but the curling of some leaves does not stop. Not to a overly harmful extent I think, but I feel like I'm still not hitting the absolute optimum.

If it is too much light/heat, how can I instead of decreasing it, increase the growth rate. Even more Co2? Or does too hot mean not enough light/co2/nutrients.. ?

Another weird observation is that setup (rectangle with 1 plants in each corner so 4 overall) has the tendency to grow unevenly but consistently. By far largest plant is on the left front. Then the two on the right are more or less en par with the one in the back leading a bit. Then the left back one ist by faaar the smallest.

So you all have been pretty helpful so far, I hope you have an opinion here as well.

Pictures attached and again... Each plant respectively and an overall look. Curling can be seen on the closeups I think.

Thanks in advance

I would try to increase airflow just under the light fixture and under the canopy. I always run fans in the bottom at low speed that blows air from bottom to the top through the canopy. You want to try to steer away any direct heat/radiation from the light fixture, best way I think is to run fans just under the fixture and try your best at minimizing any direct strong wind hitting the plants.

The leaves are curling a little bit which means they run a little dry and/or hot.

Ok thanks. I will readjust the lights today and decrease temp by 1°C. Should I increase irrigation frequency or is irrigation spot on?

Hey guys how are you?

I haven't had any problems lately so everything was pretty much on autopilot.

But today I was looking at them and noticed some kind of browning on the leaves.

@Wastei what do you think?

As always any help and advice is very appreciated and thanks in advance.

It developed over the last 2 days. That's when I saw them last time and they were fine. But I topped up the reservoir.

They are running on canna aqua bloom for 1 week now. The only difference I made when I topped up 2 days ago compared to 1 week ago is I accidentally added not 3ppm NaOCl but 4ppm. Everything else is identical.

Current feeding:
CANNA Aqua Flores
30L distilled water, 4ml bleach, 9ml CalMag, 90ml A+B, 60ml Boost

Co2 enriched
28-30°C
40-50% rel humid
7 feeds per 24h (5/day 2/night)
Water consumption about 70L/week

I didn’t look up what the aqua flakes contain, but 9ml of cal mag seems pretty high to me and those rusty spots might be from locking out the magnesium from using too much.
Ok but I always used 0.3ml Calmag per 1L nutrient solution and the problem just appeared spontaneously.

I’m not saying that is definitely your problem just a possibility from what I’m seeing. lockout can take time to happen as the levels build up then present itself once the plant is no longer able to cope.
