you can allways cut a disk of card or the topofa margarine tub to place around the top of the rooter .tis will stop light from damaging your roots if your that worried about it. just cut a slit from the outer edge to the center of the card or lastic piece. two cuts thats wide enough togo around the clone. this stops the light from doing the roots in

you will be fine for a few days, you look like you have a great rooting enviroment there and with a lid /dome on there the light is dappled and not directly on the roots. you have good info from several great growers on this thread now. good luck

Ok, I’m sorry to resurrect this, but I think I did what you were afraid he was going to do to his clone with mine. I had my clone rooted in The plug but nothing protruding out, I planted it in all I had available as it was a purchased clone and it was a day late shipping so it had wilted a little, I’m turning it into a short term mother so I just wanted it to take root before it died and I could only get miracle grow potting soil quickly, so I transplanted it and it started coming back, environment is 68-73% humidity 72-75 degrees, but then by the next night it has started to curl leaves, I checked soil runoff tds 3.6! So I started flushing the soil, almost a half gallon of RO -50ppm water, runoff was still 3.6…what should I do at this point?

It's not your soil. The clone needs higher humidity until it roots. Put a dome over it and get RH up in the 90's. It should root in a few days.
Edit..if you're running led's get your leaf temps up around 82F also.

Update, I did end up flushing the soil down to around 250-300ppm, then dried it out a little so it wasn’t just airless muck, fluffed it a little and replanted the clone, she looks alright. I am using a cfl bc I’m just going to perma veg her and keep her short and stout, RH is up to 80% and temps are 74-79F. How much watering should I be doing now until new growth starts? I’m paranoid now

Ok so the RH seems to be stuck in the low 80’s, until now I have been misting a lot, but the upcurl on the leaves just kept spreading. I don’t have a humidity dome that will fit this clone, it’s a rooted clone I ordered and it’s about a foot tall. So I cut the very top off of a milk jug and put it over the clone. Will this work? Also will the fact that leaves are touching the side of the jug have any affect? Ty for your help so far.

Shell come out of it, i had one i tortured by accident, it had 2 leaves the size of a pencil tip and it grew to a large beautiful plant

Just my 2 cents. But if roots are outside the container? It is time to transplant. You have made a clone. Now grow a plant. Use a fish emulsion and water if you wish or need to feed. And a small amount of water at the stem will get you to full water in a few weeks.

Soil guy here. Sill the same plant. LOL.

Another few weeks and that clone should be ready to transplant.
