you know, for the first time today i wondered if it was that extra light causing the algae...the pots with the algae are on that side of the tent

will need to do more observations, but there were noticeable differences in soil saturation between pots with equal sized plants. i noticed this a few years ago also. and also when re-potting i could see some plants had more developed roots than others

Root system of cannabis in same medium is always the same. The way how fast do they “drink” depends on the size of the plant. Your tupperware with algae is getting straight hit from your side spot light, I would blame this.

Vpd and dli are the 2 biggest factors when it comes to determining how much water a plant needs to drink, I’ve seen small plants 5oz ish drink 3l of solution with a vpd of 1.5 and big plants 10oz ish drink 3l of water with a vpd of 0.6. Obviously in totally separate grows at different times

Rootzone temp, medium properties and amount of the light determines how fast your roots going to “grow” in early stages of plants life. Actually a lot of things have influence on plant or root growth. Different drinking rate can be caused by environmental factors. I see you have only oscilating fan which can cause closest plant to drink more. Or not… I would not pay attention about those slight differences at all. IMo you can grow strawberries like this just for fun, but you should stick with proven methods to avoid headaches if you really have some expectations about your final product.

A lot of things have influence on drinking rate of plant. If we consider the environment stays the same for all plants in same medium with same treatment, only one and biggest determining factor of how fast do they drink is the size of the plant. It is irrelevant comparing plants from different environment and making conclusions.

Would you not agree that all plants in same room where light is measured at one point and environment is controlled from one sensor, that all plants are not receiving the same light or environment ?

I’ve seen different phenos in the same room and same size drink different amounts too.

It’s almost impossible to fill a room or tent and have them all receive the same dli and vpd, you’d have to have extra lights that aren’t even above plants to give the plants around the edge the same dli as the plants in the middle. In most cases the plants around the edges have a much different environment than the plants in the middle.

I still say vpd and dli are the biggest factors
