Chlorine in DWC

I have ordered an orp meter for my recirculating flood and drain tray setup.
What would be a good reading to maintain sterile environment?
I have an auto dose pump, so looking to dial in a daily dose amount of pythoff(chlorine).

i would start in the 350-450 mV range and adjust as necessary from there. you dont need to hit them as hard when maintaining a constant Cl level vs dosing heavier every few days

I work for a chemical company and have a degree in chemistry. I've tried a bunch of different things and I have had the best luck with UC Roots. Yes, you can get HTH pool shock (calcium hypochlorite) and you can use bleach (sodium hypochlorite). However, both of those products when added to water turn into Hypochlorous Acid.. which is the active ingredient in UC Roots.

You absolutely do not need to buy a special product for hypochlorous acid! you said it yourself! bleach (or pool shock)! It's the same thing! Begone shill devil!

I’m running a couple DWC buckets and using bleach but I have to add it every day because it dissipates pretty quick. I also add more than the calculator says too and it’s working great. I’ve tried the pool shock and find it easier to use just normal bleach. I use 1/2ml per 3gallons of water and no issues.

only thing i'd wonder is do you need to worry about the sodium content at some point?

Cupric chloride can be used to sterilize rez, its also abit antifungal due to the copper. Just something cool to note

You only need about 2ppm total or 1ppm copper 1ppm chlorine. I tried it in my dtw irrigation water and saw no ill effects, dosing it was tricky though, and i feel pool shock may be safer to handle.

way back when, i used to use dutchmaster zone. i "think" it was a mix of copper and chlorine. the copper stripped the roots so that the chlorine would be more effective or something along those lines.

I have Dutch master zone as well and it doesn’t seem to work as well as the bleach but maybe I just wasn’t using enough although I did use more than they suggested and still didn’t see much difference but it sure smells like bleach
