How are people cloning without a dome? I read heaps of people do it but when I try, within hours there falling over.

Yep I usually put clips in plain water for a day or 2. Then into aeroponic cloner. Usually roots in 6 days or less. Just did some clones from a flowering one and took 9 days for the slowest

I use fresh aloe and city tap water. Riot plugs, peat based starter mix, coco fiber/pith mix, oxycloner. Roots in 5-7 days depending on style. The quicker you can harden off the better. They'll actually throw roots harder than if always kept in high RH

You can just use two clear plastic beer cups back to back instant dome
As a general rule to much light will cause droop
I have cloned plenty of plants just sticking the stem in moist soil and placing in a shady place for two weeks
I have also used Saran Wrap as a dome
Small aero cloners are cheap and easy to diy even a cup of water will produce roots in a low lit area

Wet a peat puck and make a small hole for the clone. Choose a supple branch with a small leaf to cut. Use a sharp clean knife and cut at a shallow angle. Don't crush the stem while cutting. Immediately stick it in the puck and just lightly cover the hole so it will not dry out. Place in cupboard with a small led bulb. Make sure the pucks stay wet and wait. Nutes when they have roots.

Works great for me.

I've heard of people cloning with just a beer cup and a ziploc bag on top to keep in the humidity

I open all vents from day 1 using vermiculite on the bottom of the tray. Lush green from start to finish.

I used to clone without a dome by keeping the coco I was cloning in saturated and cutting small clones so there wasn't enough leaf area to blow off water faster than the cut stem could suck it up.

I've gone to a dome (well, clear lid tupperware). The moist coco would sometimes cause one of my clones to rot, since I put my clones in a dome I can run dryer coco. My success rate went up and the clones seem to be rooting faster too.

If you can reliably get roots using a dome, dont switch up your clone technique just because a few other people do it differently.

Most clone nurseries use trays+dome.

Thanks guys good info here. I put them under a dome now and they stood back back up, still a little limp but not too bad. I think they will be alright hopefully.

I use a 2×2 tent for seedlings and clones with a fan in it and keep the humidity at 70-80%. I use cubes and trays bc I don't have clone machine money rn. I have a 90% success rate with cloning gel, and probably an 80% success rate from just soaking the plugs in water with aloe vera and a little nutrients in it. And a little aspirin to keep everything from getting any PM or anything. It's been working. I'll even prop up the ones that are wilting and they'll be picking themselves back up a little bit each day until maybe day 3 they'll be fine. If they wilt, it's usually bc the cuttings are too skinny or you need to cut more of the leaves off. It's usually too many leaves or too skinny.
