hello fellow growers,
because of my situation the only place i can grow is on the storage side of the attic, perfect area and i have total freedom of what i can put in there, except as we all know winter is coming quick. and theres no heat in their and it can get awfully cold, although this past summer we converted the attic into a room(on one half, and the other side storage) and we insulated the whole place and theres only heat on one side, so i was wondering what is the absolute lowest temp i should put my babies in. this summer i had plants in their and, they turned somewhat purple due to low temps at night, so if the temp does infact drop to low what should i do?
any help and suggestions would be great.

I have a loft grow space and the current temps with lights off is 5oC and all is fine, just a little slower thats all. Weed is a hardy plant don't forget it!!

70 degrees F. Anything lower is probably too cold. You should look into getting one of those portable room heaters. I think they are relatively inexpensive but I have never priced them out. Look them up online maybe.

if you are using the word 'probably' then you are guessing. people need informed replies from experience, not guesswork.

Ed Rosenthal recommends a constant 70 degrees for the roots health. I think he's not just guessing to fill up space in a book. The air temperature is a lot less critical.
You want your roots healthy. A soil heating cable under the pots would help.

Damn! Here I am with 18yrs growing exp and dont even know who the hell Ed soandso is, so I must be wrong. Sorry for giving advice based on personal experience and not that given from a book, whose writer probably hasnt tried growing in adverse conditions.

I have grown 12/12 from seed on many occasions and have had from 7g per plant to 56g depending on too many factors to mention.

I'm harvesting a grow done mostly at 70F room temp and I suspect I'd have seen twice as much bud at 76-84F. I tried to keep night temps 60-65F.
They grew alright at 70, just not huge, or fast. Under 600W hps.
I don't see them doing well at all below that point.

The temps really depend on the strain but you could always raise your temps. I have a cheap space heater that I bought and it works great in raising the temps. Hope that helps
