When did the honeymoon phase wear off?

It's new relationship time, you just started growing and you want to give your babies all the love they deserve. Time and money is of no object. You buy every high end gimmicky thing you think they need to flourish.....Enyzyme Boost(aka Cespool Treatment), Hardon Bud Blaster and a bottle of unicorn tears for good measure. You watch and fret over every blemish, every leaf is precious, one small bottom branch breaks and your there with chopsticks and tape fixing her.

.....then, after some time you realize they aren't little trust fund babies who are needy as hell, they are ghetto chicks who you can treat with very little respect and they will still give you what you want. You don't need to layer your soil perfectly with a teaspoon when repotting. You can chuck her in a pot dump soil over her then rip off all the lower leaves, chew them up and spit them into the soil and it's all good. She will take the abuse and still be ready for more. She has spider mites? No way are you gonna take time on her with a Qtip and some soap and gently clean each of her leaves with TLC. You're gonna get a pressure sprayer blast those filthy leaves, shredding a fair amount of them in the process. A little bitch smack here and there keeps her in line and she will thank you for it and still do her job for you without any resentment.

I was probably in about year 3 when I took back a good chunk of time for other things in my life and just gave these bitches just enough to produce what I need.

I’ve worked to make it the most minimal amount of work is needed to do it besides topping and top dressing and watering with some weaving I don’t do much. Now getting the outside stuff ready and done is a whole other ball game but only takes that week to get in the ground it’s just a lot of seedlings but after every grow I’ve stepped back and thought okay what can I do to make less work for me. As for trimming I bought a trim bag last year and it made everything go so much smoother and quicker

Forgot about the trim honeymoon too....I used to hand trim everything all nice and purdy. Now I machine trim and make more butter. The passion isn't completely dead...I do hand trim all my tops for some show buds.

First grow for me. I don't go out of my way to abuse them, but will also think nothing of doing whatever it takes to get what I want. I still tuck leaves but if they won't cooperate they go.

Well i always knew they were alot more hardy than many give them credit for sometimes but i tend to always try to take very good care of them i think it makes the difference you can tell something thats been loved vs just managed to suit you thats my take on it anyway and trimming i think the first time i did it for about 5 minutes lol after that its just a chore i guess mind you my take on its probably coloured by the fact i didnt use timers first couple of grows so think that helps teach you there boss not you till its harvest time

I pretty much agree but there's a fine line. I try to love them and let them be but sometimes you gotta do things. I still wipe my shears down with an alcohol pad before making cuts lol but I did some super-cropping two weeks in flower which is something I didn't think I would do at the outset of the grow. Plant responded beautifully.

Every other year. I'm on and off with extreme care depending on how much time life allows me to have.

Last year I seemed to care less. But I had less time on my hands to care.

This year I am a bit more involved due to having time to be involved.

But I will say I have never cared anywhere close to as much as I did my 1st grow.

This thread is hilarious! I never thought about it much but yes I got to a point where it just became too much. Too much time, money, worry etc, and I just wanted to grow some plants without all of the crap. For me everything got closer to Zen when I switched from hydro to organic soil. No more endlessly checking ph and ec. No more looking for the "best" nutrients or boosters. No more changing water weekly. No more hauling 25 gallons of RO water home and into the house. Now I still check my plants a lot, and I admit I worry about them more than I should, but I finally enjoy growing weed again. Trimming is still a biter but that's the way it goes. I even made my cure easier by trying Grove bags, which eliminated burping the jars. Everyone have a great Independence Day!

I love how much less work organic/soil is but I’m considering going back to hydro now that I’ve scaled up, managing humidity with 75 gallons of soil and a room in flower in a subtropical environment is going expensively But I love weed and and doing what ya love takes sacrifices sometimes.

I was never married to my plants so there was never a honeymoon. I've always just basically treated them like plants without much fuss. I try and spend as little time as possible fooling around. That's why I fell in love with coco and blumats. When I run a tent using that method I might open the tent up a couple times a week just to make sure the blumats are dripping. Other than that I just take a peek through the window when I add solution to the reservoir outside the tent.

As for time spent on growing and harvesting plants it's probably 10% growing and 90% trimming. Some peoples grows are rather large and will require spending time on the plants. I just grow in a 4x4 and there is virtually no maintenance or time needed other than waiting for them to be done. I don't understand why some with similar sized or even smaller grows are spending so much time with their plants.

ID'd males today. Didn't plan on flowering any males, but these 2 are too good not to.

CBD Warlock x NL1 no1. Shorter, stickyyy stem rub, smells very strong ike skunky dumpster berries and pine). 7-finger leaves.

CBD Warlock × NL1 no2. Taller, super stout strong symmetrical structure (say that fast). The stem rub was very strong funky dumpster early on, but is more subtle now.Strong smelling overall still. 9 finger leaves.

I believe I"II flower both and collect their pollen separately and start a few back cross projects with the mom CBD Warlock, and maybe back to the NL1 female going now too. Might as well make plenty, I think there'll be some good stuff come out of this line.
