It is a witness and a weapon against wrong doing, that's why you need a federal law about it, the existing ones don't work, are weak and not enforced. When they change the law also make it easier to wiretap corrupt politicians, Trump and his associates should have been bugged and tapped over a year ago, any other organized crime outfit would have. Why they are not wiretapped is a scandal in it's own right.

politicians are people too, as much as i hate to admit it, and they have the same rights as everyone else. you can't just wire tap people because you feel like it, you have to have a good reason that can convince a judge.

There is plenty of evidence with Trump and crowd for wiretaps, why they were not implemented is a question that needs to be answered. Politicians have the same rights as the rest of us, but they have to obey the laws too and what about equal treatment under the law? Clearly politicians have more rights than the average citizen, you can't even bust them for the election season, so just running confers special statues. Even not busting Trump during his presidency was a legal opinion from the DOJ, not set in law or precedent, it was policy.

Perhaps a permeant special independent counsel for politicians, but the republicans would just abuse that when they got into power. The problem is not with the constitution or even the structure of the government, flawed as it is, it still served well for over 200 years. The problem is with the people, they failed their country, it all worked as long as racists were a big part of both parties. However that began to change in the mid 60's with voting rights laws, school segregation and other measures drove more minorities and secular people to the democrats and racist and religious lunatics to the republicans. It was subtitle for years in the GOP, just dog whistles and family values bullshit, Jesus was everybody's best buddy and imaginary friend. When Trump came along they were primed after 8 years of Obama and he blew Dixie on the dog whistle through a bullhorn.

you can't have it both ways...you defend the DOJ and the AG, then condemn them about this? if they know what they're doing about trump, then they know what they're doing about being able to get a wire tap or not...
fuck, for all we know, they had several, and just aren't making it public.
but, they either know what the fuck they're about, or they don't...pick one.
i personally, think they're worthless fucks who are going to let trump walk...along with most of his crew of pirates.
that's one reason i'm less than willing to give up my guns, we may all need to be armed soon, because if trump walks free, you haven't EVER seen a fucking riot, but you will.

Politics has been influencing the law and that is why Trump is not in jail, or has been wiretapped. So the DOJ avoiding politics is just stupid, the problem is they are not going where the facts lead and the delay is politically motivated. He should be doing time for the same crime Cohen was jailed for, it was slam dunk and the crime was committed before he was POTUS, during the 2016 election. What's the full story on that miscarriage of justice? Why wasn't Trump and his associates wiretapped, equality under the law?

I understand the delays and have been trying to make sense of them and the only answer I get is politics, not the law and the facts, others have noticed this too and most are lawyers. Because of the high political nature of his crimes and the constitutional ambiguities, I can certainly understand the deviation from the norm. So if they have special statues and special rights and are apparently above many laws or their enforcement, what balances the equation? Trump answered the question, didn't he?

I think the DOJ knows what it is doing, they are trying to get a criminal and terrorist organization away from the levers of power while staying inside the lines. Donald's popularity always bounces back from every scandal and crime, they are shocked and appalled, but about 2 weeks later they kept coming back repeatedly, his poll numbers would dip 10 points, then bounce back up. So I guess saving it all for the midterm elections is their and the democrats only option, since the public has such a short attention span and many are willing to forgive Donald anything after a couple of weeks.

If the republicans win in November the work of the justice department will multiply, J6 will be buried and they will remove whatever federal election protection that exist. Biden will be impeached and Garland will live on the congressional hot seat, as they try to pry into criminal investigations and ruin the prosecutions. He has to be careful about what he says and does, since he might be under oath a lot in a republican congress.

not quite on topic, but close enough, i guess.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jul/13/us-prison-work-breaks-bodies-minds-for-pennies

i'm of mixed opinions about this...if you're sentenced to prison, you have no obligation to work if you don't want to, but they're under no obligation to provide you with anything beyond the basic necessities of life. you should get clean clothes and bedding, 3 decent meals a day, and a dry cell within the human comfort range as far as temperature goes. at least an hour outside every other day to exercise, weather permitting, and access to books (from an approved list), and access to medical care if needed. that's about all they should be required to provide, it is prison, not summer camp.
Not one single prisoner should be required to work. if they do work, they should make a fair wage, or the prices in their comissary should be adjusted down to the same ratio they're getting paid at, if they're making 5% of minimum wage, stuff in the commissary should cost 5% of what it would at 7-11...no one should be forced to do dangerous work with no training for pennies an hour. no one with talent should be coerced into using those talents for pennies an hour.
prisoners are in prison to be punished for crimes they have committed, not for the prison administration to exploit for personal profit.
prisons should ALL be federally run as non profit institutions. any money made by industry should be plowed back into the upkeep and upgrading of the prison and it's equipment, feeding, clothing, and educating the prisoners, so they might just have a chance of getting a job when they get out and maybe not coming back to prison again...paying the guards and civilian employees...

so, it is prison, and shouldn't be fun...but it's not a pool of slaves to be exploited by modern day plantation owners.

Ya tough one for me personally. I think the prisoners should be required to help pay for their incarceration, if able, and not for profit. But a they should also be learning a trade or employable skill. There should also be rewards and privileges for the work/learning. If they don’t want to work don’t force it, just no extra shit. Like the Donald making cheeseburgers in the cafeteria for his new prison lover, for instance lol.

someone is slipping....
https://www.wate.com/news/tennessee/seven-pounds-of-drugs-148000-seized-in-middle-tennessee/

They served 8 warrants, arrested 5 people, one of which fired a weapon at officers in his apartment doorway, seized a buttload of fentanyl, coke, and heroin, they didn't kill anyone, and at least 4 of the 5 are black...So, it can happen. Did they forget to load their guns?
If they keep doing shit like this, people might stop being afraid for their lives in traffic stops.

HD Video cameras are an asshole cops greatest foe and in the past few years has lead to the downfall of many. It's natural selection from here on out for asshole cops, adapt or die. If the democrats win and can pass laws, it will get much worse for asshole cops and domestic terrorists. New policing laws and video cameras everywhere will put the seal on those who can't control their emotions or prejudices. Cellphones have done the most for black people and we can see the hate on the Karen's ugly face from their POV, the vitriol feels directed at us in a way. Changes in the law will allow people to be sued for this kind of bullshit and cellphones will provide the evidence

Here is an example of a camera that can do wiFi and record in HD onto a 128GB microSD card, it can be used as a shirt button and there are many others that will stream video onto your phone too. So if they pass federal hate crime laws and people can sue for this kind of bigoted bullshit, a video camera could make someone people a lot of money. If you are black, brown or Asian, just go to where you will trigger them and talk back, while you record and wait for the cops to arrive, they will call them on themselves. They can't help themselves and it would be like shooting fish in a barrel, easy money for you and your lawyer! :D
