Is it worth transplanting if preflowers are visible?

Also, is the gain from a 7 gallon to 10 gallon pot going to make much difference? I'd gain a few inches in depth, and at least at the top circumference, around an extra 1/4 inch, at least based on measuring the pots.

Outdoors, Ocean Forest in Northern Ca. I do have several 15 gallon pots, but moving them is too difficult, especially when wet. I have them in my sideyard, which is concrete, and the area where they can't be seen by neighbors is maybe 10 by 20 (or less) feet, and as the sun changes I need to move them some to maximize the hours of direct sun they get. Have a MAC1, Dosidos Sherbert and Mr E Pupil. I'm tempted to just leave in the 7 gallon pots in the photo but want to avoid issues if they get badly rootbound during flower. The Dosidos (far right in pic) seems to suck up a lot of water, have to water almost daily20220712_114751.jpg

I grow indoors and 10gal isnt even enough for my plants (manifolded, trained and vegged long).

Try and think of it as you really need to use those 15gal bags...can you devise a way?

If you are on cement, could you wheel them back and forth if they were on easy to move carts?

I could pull/slide them. But I guess my question boils down to this:

With preflowers showing, is transplanting going make it worthwhile size-wise?

The more roots you have, the larger and healthier the plant will be. Preflowers only indicates it is mature enough that it CAN begin flowering when there is enough darkness. It has no bearing on when it flowers or how much more it will grow.

Stretch alone, outdoors, is likely enough to begin filling the other half of a 15 that would be free if you transplant...so...

Yes - 1 - No matter what more room for roots to grow is a good thing.

Yes - 2 - Unless the flip to flower is coming in the next few days, a 7gal can and will easily fill a 15gal especially outdoors. Even if it flips now it still will likely fill the larger pot. Just my 2c.

I grow out doors in 10 gallon grow bags. Plants end up about 6 feet tall each with over a lb on them.

15 gallon is not absolutely necessary

I'm leaning towards moving them into 10 gallon pots and being done with it. Those are still relatively easy to move (plus they have handle deals on the sides). I placed an old 15 gallon pot in the grow area to gauge available room, methinks 3 of these may start to be obvious, especially if the plants get too big - I have grown 6 footers outdoors in 10 gallon posts before.

Either way I need to get soil so I'll go to the hydro shop tomorrow, wish 12 gallon pots were a thing. But I also want to see if I can generate a few feminized seeds. Should I look at tiresias mist or is there something else commonly sold that works better? I tried the mist years ago, it produced male pollen sacks, but absolutely no pollen. I'd like to try mixing a few strains to see what I come up with for next year

go 20 gallon and get the trash can wheels/dolly to move them around LOL hehe. or some cheap casters screwed to a trash can lid cheap

6 footers in 10 gallon impressive, hard to keep up with water that big in that small container.

BTW did i mention sexy plants? very sexy

Contrary to what some might say roots will continue to grow during flower. I've transplanted plants that were several weeks into flower and when harvested the roots had filled in the larger pots.

So yes you can transplant to larger pots if preflowers are showing.
Dwc, I can see the roots. I would say they grow for about 7 or 8 weeks after 12 12 starts. But those last 2 to 4 weeks u got what u got and nothing else coming.
