O
@mandocat That’s a fair question. Unfortunately my experience with it offers an incomplete status to date. I only started using Monterey last year and even then later than I should’ve being a newbie to the outdoor grow world. Given It was a tough season due to the wet/humid weather for pretty much everyone, I’ll refrain from offering an opinion, but this season being relatively opposite weather than last season, it’s seems to be holding its own. I have no PM issues to report at all… so far anyway. :D
Ive had good results with Monterey Complete rotated with Monterey B.T.

99% of my bud rot is secondary to caterpillar activity, and so for me prevention is crucial.

My best results are those on Sativa dom plants pushed those out to last week of October with almost ZERO mold, but then again I want Indica dom as well, so what ya gonna do?

Also, here I sit: still trimming the last of my bud from last season. I find it oddly cathartic and rewarding, and the buds are nice and very smooth having cured on the branches for all these months.

Curious… How do you keep the rh up on something curing that long but still connected to branches?

We also had a tough season last year, very wet summer! This year dry with 100 degree plus about every day, and no molds, so far. I haven't even sprayed zerotol. I have sprayed sulfur 3 times, as preventative. For the leaf septoria. I discovered that while zerotol is killer against PM, it doesn't phase septoria.
Thank you for that info. Septoria and bud rot suck but Honestly I've never considered PM much of a problem.

I’ve been using the “Monterey Complete Disease Control”… it’s a concentrate and a pint is just under $20 on Amazon. 2 quarts for me personally would be way overkill for a season I think. ;)
And have you used it in seasons past? Results? The pros use the Zerotol for a reason, Results. And it's extremely high potent, small amounts make a hundred gallons. Let me know if you've used it and had Results, and from what. Much thanks.

I was just on the Biosafe Systems website… and checked out some online reviews. That zerotol seems like pretty impressive stuff. Looks like the diff in 2.0 and HC is the hydrogen peroxide active ingredient is not inclusive to the HC. I read somewhere (Amazon reviews?) that if stored properly, it will last up to 3 years! I’ll likely finish the season using the Monterey given I already have it, but will certainly entertain the zerotol when I restock. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks! Lol :bigjoint:
Looks like your talking apples and oranges . Montery, BT, if thats what you're referring to, only deals with caterpillars and worm issues. Zerotol deals with rot and mildew exclusively. Possibly the confusion is mine, just smoked some of my Grape Stomper.

This is my 3rd year of using Zerotol and Oxyphos, another Biosafe product. Not sure if I had already told you this, but outdoors in Oklahoma it has been a lifesaver! And now I have a copper free sulfur product that is effective against leaf septoria. The best prevention I have found against bud worms is genetics, with one of my Royal Kush plants having 1 budworm last year and the other having about 5. This next to a plant that had dozens. I have even washed some of the freshly harvested buds in Zerotol, which seems to lower the chances of molding during drying. I was turned on to Zerotol by a professional grower from Colorado who grew some of the nicest outdoor I had seen around here in forever! He was able to allow his plants to go longer because of the Zerotol, while the rest of us were salvaging what we could. And harvesting too early.

They are semi-sealed in large 45 gallon totes attached to large branches, which I store in my basement which is 55-60% humidity.

They essentially slow-cure on the branch/limbs.

thanks for the Zerotol recommendation: ordering a gallon of concentrate now.

I currently utilize hydrogen peroxide 3% full load, but curious to see how this steps it up.

In-vitro antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant and functional properties of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens

Research is beginning to highlight broader uses of these bacteria in addition to caterpillar control.

Amyloliquefaciens appears to possibly function like a pro-biotic, potentially helping to prevent overgrowth of fungi and other pathogenic bacteria.

@PioneerValleyOG I was only comparing the zerotol 2.0 to zerotol HC (HC is designed for Mr. & Mrs. homeowner and omits the hydrogen peroxide from the active ingredients, otherwise they seem the same) I’d never even heard of zerotol at all till your recent post. I never said the Monterey Complete or BT is the be all end all… (I do however also use the Monterey Insect Spray w/spinosad) just what I was advised to use at some point. Given what I’ve been reading, I’ll likely go to zerotol for the fungicide control going forward. I hope the confusion is cleared up. Lol :D

If you get the Zerotol HC, know it is 5% hydrogen peroxide versus 23% for 2.0, which is commercial strength. It still has the same formulation with peracetic acid, which was the game changing formulation that led to it being so effective.

This company seems to have lots of cool stuff to deal with insects, mold, and paterkillers. The main difference I found between Zerotol and OxyPhos is this:

ZeroTol 2.0 is a broad-spectrum, contact bactericide/fungicide and OxiPhos is a broad-spectrum bactericide/fungicide that works both systemically and on contact.

The two can be mixed. I have used this sprayer with a diluted 3-5% H2o2.

I spray directly on buds where I cut the worst rot out, then 'seal off' the rest of the branch by spraying where any contact may have occurred. It works semi-successfully... I'm hoping the upgrade does better. If anyone has bulk zerotol, I'd buy a quart. Or perhaps barter.
Have successfully collected Cheesequake pollen. Pretty excited to cross it with a couple plants.
I think a friend sent me a Tirah type seed... plant just never stops growing. I might top it, but dont think I can reach, lmao.
Paintbrush application 9f pollen I will be able to just pollinate a branch, right? It won't seed the whole plant if a seed a lower branch or two? Should I bag the branch? Just make sure its not real windy when I do it, lmao.
Happy Friday my grow friends. May your weekend be blessed.

Seedmaking 101:

a) when plenty of stigma are showing at flower sites, pollinate on calm dry day with no rain and little wind expected for at least 24 hours
b) use artist’s brush to gently dab on lower branch on leeward side of wind - you don’t need much pollen to do the job
c) repeat a couple more times over the next week or so
d) give seeds a minimum of 6 weeks to mature - wait at least until they start to split their protective covering - if you need to harvest plant before then, leave the seeded branches attached to main stem to ripen separately
e) let seeds age and harden at room temp in open air for a couple of months
f) store seeds in small ziplock bags with silica dessicant packs in freezer, can last decades

And finally, if you fuck up and get pollen on adjacent branches where you don’t want seeds, take a small spray bottle and spray with water to zap the baby batter a few times - being careful not to wet the seed branch.

I leave at least one prominent lower branch specifically for pollinating, you may get a seed or 2 elsewhere, but you won't end up with a plant full of seeds. My pollen packs are "one shot" in folded up parchment paper. I often rub the open up paper on the cola I'm pollinating, just try to find a time of day when the wind is low and there is no dew on the plant.
