Why can’t I run my light on full power ts1000

Woah... I'm gonna have to grab my morning coffee and read this again. Thanks for the write up. Sounds like less is more? I usually cap it off at 36-38DLI. Don't use C02. My last winter grow I did notice the lower canopy blooming just as well as the top canopy, the lower sitting at about 750-800 vs the top at 950-1000 (<---edited) interesting interesting... Gonna perk that coffee up, thanks for the read!
Other than seedling stage, my goal is to give my plants as much light as they can tolerate with ≈ 900µmols being the practical limit. I've run 940 and got some light avoidance so I dropped the light levels.

Makes sense, if we're talking about photoperiods. Which that study you posted was geared towards. But Autos? That's a LOT of Light (DLI) at 24 hours.

Woah... 65 mols... that's really pushing it. Heck even 45 mols is on the edge, you using C02?
No CO2. 65 mols is a lot of light but I can always turn down the light levels if the plants aren't handling it.

I'm switching from Gorilla Glue to Strawberry Pie autos so it's a different strain but, per Bugbee, he hasn't found any significant differences in how the cultivars that they've tested react to light and he implies that Cannabis sativa is pretty much the same across the board.

"Heck even 45 mols is on the edge" - that seems to be a popularly held opinion and I think that's a carry over from photoperiod plants where, lacking CO2, you really can't get a much higher DLI than that in flower (a PPFD of 1000 for 12 hours is 43.2).

Autos are a different story because the lights on period is really up to the grower. I've used 18/6 in the past but have varied that between 20 and 17 hours of light, depending on how the plants were handling the light levels.

I'd love to see how these turn out. You got a new follower. :)

with 2 ts1000 do u struggle with heat at all in a 2x3
No, in my 2x4 I have an excellent ventilation system in place. In any tent set up you should have ventilation in place for air exchange. I don't have them in there anymore, I got a nicer unit in there now. I was planning on selling them but am now rethinking how I can use them. As of now I have 5 lights in the garage just collecting dust..lol. The two Mars Hydro 1000s, a pair of Mars Hydro TSW 2000s, and a Growers Choice ROI E680S. My 2x4 currently has the Atrium Hydra 3200, it's a beast of a light. The 2x4 is just to hold me over till the winter, that's when I use the 4x8 (tent) in the garage. I don't know exactly how your grow environment is at the moment. Looks like you just found a corner somewhere at your home. But air exchange is important. Just as important as the light they receive. Get the air moving in your grow area.

Hi guys as title states I have 3 autos in a 2x3 they are 35 days from sprout all in the start of flower 2 @ 2 weeks and 1 @ 1 week or so but my question is until about a week ago all was fine still is except from I noticed that the plants were dropping a few hours before lights off they were on 20/4 so switched to 18/6 for more rest anyway I got looking into Dli an figure that was the problem too much light over too long a timeframe but surly a 150w led isn’t too much light it’s on about 80% atm @ 28 inches and plants seem a lot happier 500ish ppfd @ canopy any thoughts guys thanks :joint:
I don’t think it’s a problem, All of my plants do that. Once they have received their allotment of light for the day they kind of rest. I know this isn’t in like the technical/ scientific way to say it but I’m just a hillbilly. I think it does point away from the 24 hour veg time alot of flaks do but that’s my personal opinion I guess it goes without saying.

I've seen photos do this, first time that I've seen an auto do it. When it happened to me last year I turned down the lights a little, (to sort of mimic a cloudy day) and they stayed alert till the lights went out. After seeing that I went down an hour from 12 to 11 of lighting for my photos. Worked. My concern here is when he goes to flower. He has enough light to grow leaves, does he have enough light to grow thick flowers?

Ahhh yes I didn’t see the part about autos, I don’t have any meaningful input since little experience there. I also flower under 11/13 these days because of similar reasoning. I actually have a few of those Ts1000 and veg under them, tried bloom and just couldn’t match the old hps.

That Atreum looks to be a hell of a light. I've drunk the Growcraft Koolaid but, if I were looking to buy now, it would be a coin toss and I'd have a lot more coins to toss by going with the Atreum.

I know someone who has one of those Growcraft (640watt I think) in a 3x3 and his flowers are killer. I got some hard buds with 2 of those 1000s, (Blue Dream) two of the 1000s can get you 900 PPFD easy (18-20 inches) 2x4 coverage area. That's plenty for flowering. Just push them to the far edges , left and right because the cross path of the center light intensifies a bit.

No complaints about the X3 but it is a flower light even though Chilled calls it "full cycle".

Good point about how to set up two lights. All three of my grows have ended up with the plant on the right side of the tent being very dominant. For my last grow, I had to buy a small light for the tiny plant that was struggling for light. Two lights offers that extra flexibility.

"two of the 1000s can get you 900 PPFD easy (18-20 inches) 2x4 coverage area. That's plenty for flowering" - that's the magic number!
