What is funny is the Trump News Train will not only be covering these classified docs but more news and revelations when the Jan . 6 hearings start again.

His vile taste left in American mouths lately will only bolster the facts that are to come from what the panel will disclose to the public. Hard to catch a break when so many investigations overlapping.

Death from a thousand cuts.

WASHINGTON — Two lawyers for former President Donald Trump are likely to become witnesses or targets in the investigation into how he hoarded documents marked as classified at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate — and secretly held onto some even after the lawyers claimed all sensitive materials had been returned, legal specialists said.

The lawyers, M. Evan Corcoran and Christina Bobb, handled Trump’s interactions with the government over a subpoena in May seeking additional material marked as classified. In a court filing late Tuesday, the Justice Department strongly suggested that people in Trump’s circle concealed documents in defiance of that subpoena, putting a spotlight on the lawyers’ actions.

They are potentially witnesses — if not defendants,” Barbara McQuade, a University of Michigan law professor and a U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 2010 to 2017, said of the two lawyers.

The filing did not identify which lawyers for Trump took the key actions. But The New York Times has reported that after receiving the subpoena, Corcoran searched through boxes kept in a storage area in Mar-a-Lago’s basement for files with classified markings.

The Times has also reported that on June 3, after Trump’s lawyers met with Jay Bratt, the head of the Justice Department’s counterespionage section, and FBI agents, Bobb signed a statement attesting that all the sensitive material had been returned.

During that visit, Trump’s representatives turned over 38 documents with classified markings and indicated that all the records had been kept in a storage room, that no other records were stored elsewhere and that all available boxes had been searched, prosecutors said.

According to the statement Bobb signed on behalf of Trump, “based upon the information that has been provided to me,” all documents responsive to the subpoena were being returned after a “diligent” search. The Times has reported that she was the designated “custodian of records” for Trump.

A piece by Thom Hartmann, who dives into waters I’ve only waded in. Worth reading, and thinking about - especially as the brass-bound bullhorn of bullshit is currently going off around the clock.

A frightening read. Thanks for posting it. It does suggest why DOJ is moving slowly. They get one shot at this if the allegations are even near correct. It all does seem to be if a piece.

The thing that appalls me especially is the betrayal of human intelligence operatives. That alone should get him a nice Cuban oubliette.

Some serious legal pundits are saying Donald will be indicted soon over the documents by a grand jury. By soon I assume they mean before the election. There is a Wall St. Journal poll out today showing a big swing towards the democrats over the documents case among independents.

Democratic Midterm Prospects Improve as Races Heat Up, WSJ Poll Finds
Independent voters, a key to victory in competitive general elections, are now tilting toward Democrats

Democrats are entering the homestretch before November’s election in better shape than earlier this year, boosted by gains among independent voters, improved views of President Biden and higher voting enthusiasm among abortion-rights supporters, a Wall Street Journal poll shows.

Republicans have electoral fuel to tap into if they can keep the debate focused on the economy and what has been the highest inflation in four decades. Nearly two-thirds of registered voters say the economy isn’t good or poor—a larger share than in the last Journal survey, in March—and close to two-thirds say the pain of higher costs makes them more likely to cast a ballot.

Democrats hold a slight edge over Republicans, 47% to 44%, when voters are asked which party they would support in their congressional district if the election were held today, a lead that is within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points. Republicans had a five-point advantage in March.

The Democratic gains come from increased support among independents, women and younger voters. Black and Hispanic voters, who have traditionally favored Democrats heavily, are also more solidly supportive of the party than they were earlier this year.

Among political independents, typically the key to victory in close elections, more voters now favor a Democratic candidate for Congress than a Republican, 38% to 35%. In March, Republicans led among independents by 12 percentage points.

Before the Supreme Court’s late-June reversal of the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion ruling, the GOP had been more optimistic about its prospects, in part because the party that doesn’t control the White House typically makes midterm-election gains.
