It’s crazy, I’m amazed every grow with the growth.......it’s all the white light these LEDs put off, the leaf growth never stops. My very best yield out of the room had all the plants finishing around 22-24 inches so with my style of growth, height does not matter- what does matter is the number of branches and bud sites. By keeping them short, light penetration almost becomes a non factor.

This is what I'm hoping to pull off with my budget leds in my 3x3 tent on my first grow to finish. I have my plant spread out so far with quite a few sites on that top level. Gonna go through tonight and pull as many leaves as I think I need to to help the cheap leds with the light penetration.

Do you think using the veg nutrients for 2 weeks in flower may also limit the stretch a bit?
No, it actually increases the stretch, by way of more Nitrogen. But that is offset by the topping and defoliation. The plant has stress from my actions so it takes the energy it would normally use to grow and puts it towards areas I topped and defoliated to recover more quickly.

im a week behind you,with some that are only 10“ high,the canopy is quite flat and really tightly bunched together, I topped them all (recommended by the breeder) who says it’s average height is 120-160 cm and not too leafy. Horse shit,tons of leafs and no way I can see these will get to anywhere near that height. I have the same leds as you so short and leafy is to be expected,these just seem too short..
I’m reading another of your diary’s from 09/20 sweet zombie where I think you had a similar issue with height,that all ended well.

Listen, contrary to what you may hear, you do not want tall plants with LED’s……….. they don’t penetrate as well as hps, and I’ve proven over the last 2+ years, you can get a better yield with shorter plants than taller ones. As I’ve said, you must look for strains that give off a lot of branches which are sturdy. Ive had strains strains with lots of branches that can’t hold their weight either, and you’ll end up either having to tie them all up or grow thru netting if you have that on hand. I don’t like to tie my stuff up, as it’s a lot of work, but I often do for the sake of the room.
I had grown the sweet zombie under hps, and I had tons of lower unfinished stuff at the end of the grow. I thought it was the perfect strain for LED’s, except the potency didn’t get high enough marks for me personally. Expert Seeds stuff is ok for beginners, but I’ll never grow anything from them again. I can’t recommend them anymore. We won’t touch on all the reports of hermies either.
And, I think anything a breeder claims about this or that strain can be thrown out the window with these Gavita’s. This is why I’m specifically staying with just a few breeders these days- Ethos, Irie, Tony Greens- these breeders are proven to have good success generally with my style of grow. If I wasn’t growing fem’s only, I’d be doing some others regularly. To be sure though, I only have a limited amount of grows left in me before I retire. At 66, and not really smoking much anymore, it’s definitely not as exciting to me as it once was. The wife wished I stopped 10 years ago, my customers hope I grow until I’m 80.

Either every day or every other day and a half. I’m actually about to increase their water supply 25% along with the 50/50 nute mix. Starting tomorrow………

4. The 4th one is…….I can’t remember and don’t feel like heading up stairs. I’ll report later.
