I try to keep an open mind where warranted, so I like many of the experts, await the results of experimentation. Everybody outside their specialty these days is an amateur.Longer, I think. Imo this is “Popular Mechanics”- style techporn not much different than 50 years ago, when it was proposed to orbit giant photovoltaic power stations that sent it down as large, hot microwave beams. That never came to be.
it follows that I don’t read Popular Mechanics. Their predictive success has been low.
I too like to keep an open mind, but that does not obligate me to tolerate sales pitches camouflaged as serious essays.I try to keep an open mind where warranted, so I like many of the experts, await the results of experimentation. Everybody outside their specialty these days is an amateur.
Every new technology I know of has a sales pitch at one point or another. These people do not appear to be seeking publicity, their investment appears secure, unlike say Elon Musk...I too like to keep an open mind, but that does not obligate me to tolerate sales pitches camouflaged as serious essays.
In this context I was thinking about just that! Musk boldly claiming that a Starship/booster orbital launch would cost $2 million.Every new technology I know of has a sales pitch at one point or another. These people do not appear to be seeking publicity, their investment appears secure, unlike say Elon Musk...
the title is popular mechanics, not successful mechanics...Longer, I think. Imo this is “Popular Mechanics”- style techporn not much different than 50 years ago, when it was proposed to orbit giant photovoltaic power stations that sent it down as large, hot microwave beams. That never came to be.

You could say that someone is putting their (and other people's) money where their math is, it is essentially an engineering problem at this point.
I think that is where we disagree. I view the geophysics with distrust. You could say that someone is putting their (and other people's) money where their math is, it is essentially an engineering problem at this point.
I didn't say it was an engineering problem with a resolution, it's just someone with a new idea has the investment to see if it works, it is very much an experiment with many potential hurdles, but a big reward if successful. They think it stands a good chance of working and it's better the money is spent on this than donated to the republicans! People are free to waste their money too, but I think their investors practiced due diligence and had an independent engineering and geophysical assessment done, I would before investing millions.I think that is where we disagree. I view the geophysics with distrust.
I might have to behave myself too.So the sticky therad suggests that the troll turnover is going to be higher.
Just be creative in your insults to fascists.I might have to behave myself too.
That sucks.
How many sock accounts do you think they have waiting?I might have to behave myself too.
That sucks.
Their presence is usually a sign of desperation and now things are looking desperate for them with Donald in deep shit and the GOP dropping in the polls as women get fired up. Even the Russians are all fucked up lately and I doubt they are wasting any resources here, they need everything they've go to try and survive in Ukraine! Not just Donald and the GOP are on the ropes, Putin and the Russians are too and the MAGATS are whining about all the money being spent on Ukraine (A great investment BTW). They seem disturbed that their Russian allies are getting an ass kicking in Ukraine too.How many sock accounts do you think they have waiting?
How many dead accounts with weak passwords do you think they have found?
Augh, mercury! For those who liked Steve Irwin. Many years earlier (and also an owner of a croc farm) Australia had Malcolm Douglas.
Give it a watch if you have the time. Especially if you love fishing.
