The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

Got any recipe's that stand out for trout?
Maybe I'm just a fish snob from Alaska but they just taste bland to me.
It doesn't matter if it's a hatchery or wild fish either (they clip here so you can tell).
I'm not a huge fan of fried for health reasons, but would give it a go on occasion.

I'd love to hear peoples suggestions.
We just do old school, S&P with cornmeal.

My personal preferences:
1) Cornmeal breading for a quick fry on the bank. Freshly caught, filleted, and with fried potatoes for breakfast. Same goes for bluegill/crappie/smaller catfish & bass.

2) Baking with cheese. I like to sauté onion, mushroom, garlic and mix in tomatoes, oregano, and Parmesan. Spread that over and bake.

3) YouTuber Special:
Tinfoil, butter, garlic, Salt & pepper. Add a lemon and herb if you’re feeling frisky.

Skin off I'm assuming - do you pull the lateral line pin bones or do you cut out the strip of meat they are in?
You don’t have to do either. in fact the bones separate easily or can sometimes fry out if filleted. I prefer skin off if frying. It doesn’t lend anything like salmon skin does.

3 is how i do striper. Simple and doesnt overpower the fish.
Alittle mayonaise in there doesnt hurt either

My stuffing recipe is pretty simple.
2 sleeves of ritz crushed
1/8 cup real grated parm
1 lemons worth of zest
1 tbs parsley
1 tsp dill
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Black pepper
Mix it up, and add 1/2 stick melted butter.
Rub the fish with mayo and pile it on

Yeah, that's right there with one of my "go to" recipes & tried it last week with fresh rainbow (+ onion slices).
Meh, it didn't taste like anything special.
I’ve had a trout surimi that was a nice representation. Minced trout, salt, and sugar. Seared and served with an off dry aromatic white wine.

I’ve totally forgotten about the use of Mayo! That’s basically my grandmother’s recipe for salmon patty, minus the disgusting canned pink salmon.

How’s the water level? Does that change up strategy?
Water level was fairly low but no it doesn't change anything. In the fall bass change behavior from sitting and waiting to ambush to chasing bait.

In fall there is a ton of bait fish. The bass get hyper focused on them so people find it very difficult to catch them because of that hyper focus.

You want to look for balls of bait. Either through your fish finder or as I had stated birds. Nature's fish finder.

If you see a bunch of bird on the water in one spot you best believe there is a bait ball there. There will absolutely be bass under the bait ball. Bass push the bait up to the surface so they are easy to catch and the birds take advantage.

I choose a lure slightly off color from the bait so I stand out a bit in the bait ball. But I choose a lure that matches the size of the bait best.
