I thought this was America?

Where else but America would the CEO of Exxon become the Secretary of State? We've subsidized the O&G industry for over 100 years. I sympathize with labor because it is a very volatile industry but it needs to be brought under control. The industry is corrupt and has far, far too much power here and abroad.

No, Biden isn't confusing profit with revenue.

I recommend Blowout by Rachel Maddow to get a good history of the industry.
First I wonder what would happen to all the people that work in the fossil fuel industry. I guess that those folks don't matter anyways because most of them vote Republican. And as far as reading and relying on anything Rachel Maddow wrote I would be better off reading and believing in Dr. Seuss because Maddow is nothing but a left wing agitator.

They can pick fruit since the republicans don't want any immigrants to cross the border. Good clean jobs...

I can understand the lure of EV, but it takes so much FF to even make an EV battery, and in turn takes even more in FF to power the charging stations. Then there’s the issue of polluting the earth/ground water with expired batteries.
Those batteries won't end up in the ground tho. You can bet they will be recycled for all the rare earth elements that are already in short supply. Very unlike plastics that are barely hitting 5% recycling but the whole recycling thing was something they came up with so they could sell more plastic.

I remember a song from back in the 70s or so that went something like, Plastic people leading plastic lives, everything will be plastic by and by.

:peace:

Just a thought. Where are we going to get all the electricity from? We do not have the infrastructure to go all electric. We barely have enough to get us by now. What happens to a city or state when a hurricane hits and all power is out? What happens during mass evacuations ahead of storms? These are things that no one has thought through.

Don't you ever wonder what will happen to the climate? Do you ever wonder why the populations of oil-rich nations suffer the most when they should be enjoying prosperity? Can you see what is happening to the coal industry? It cannot nor should not be saved.

Maddow is a Rhodes scholar and avid historian with 11 degrees that does thorough research for her books. I suspect your knowledge stems mostly from Fox News.

"don't matter..bc they vote R"? That's pure victimhood nonsense. What happened to "personal responsibility" and "pull yourself up by the bootstraps"? We do need to spend a lot more on retraining and creating opportunities in those areas, about ten times the paltry < $20 million we do now. They've been neglected and will continue to be neglected because they keep voting for people like McConnell and Paul.

I mean, you spend $105,000 to buy a EV F150 that on a full charge, will haul your boat 68 miles. It dosn't make sense to me.
May make sense to the wealthy soccer moms around here. They are all driving massive trucks and suv's a mile to the store, tennis lessons, or whatever. They aren't towing anything... ever..
Making large truck ownership available to only those that need it would have a greater effect on emissions and fuel consumption than ev's. But the its a free country folk would freak the fuck out over that

First off have not watched Fox news in many many years. But I do not watch NBC or MSNBC either. I do not watch national news period because they are all slanted to one side or the other. I have no problem with starting to move toward cleaner energy. But if the US is the only Country to do it then what have we truly gained. But no one ever answered my questions posed in response #125. And I guess since Maddow is educated that means she has no political bias? She is one of the most politically devisive people in all the news agency's. By the way I am not a Republican either. I do not claim any political affiliation. The Republican nor the Democrats have all the answers. Today there aim is to divide us as a people and look after there own special interest.

the point was it was cleaner for the air......some of us consider clean air a point
As ol' Grandpappy was a Farmer/Rancher, he really only needed diesel for farm equipment. He had a big ol' 1000 gallon tank on the farm that they would come fill up as needed, so I think he did the propane kit in fear of the gas shortage way back in the 70's. Pretty sure he was just planning ahead. He couldn't give a rats ass about the air. From what my mom had told me, he'd come in from the fields covered from head to toe in some chemical they banned back in the 50's, and smoked since he was like 12... amazing he lived to be 68.

No... they should have kept the jobs here. The profit has a small percentage of my concern. They should have supported America. But, commodities and consumables are 2 different things. But Fords Q1,2 were good, but hey, they didn't get dinged for it. They were (and may be still ) getting sticker price... and Im ok with that.
towing range is shit!

In any business, you're going to have collateral damage no matter if it's oil spills, underwater fractures (BP), chemical leaks from manufacturers, accidents on the road, nuclear plant leaks, Railway derailments carrying all kinds of stuff, wind farms spewing hydraulic fluid all around the site, or into the ocean (offshore),etc.
most oil in a lot of the turbines use a light cooking oil, in hydraulic system.

When and if I do watch the national news I watch cbs. And even they are biased. But they seem to me as the least biased. When I want to know about an issue I get on the internet and do my own research and read both sides of an issue and form my own opinion. I mainly watch local news only. For me I do not need someone telling me their opinion on an issue instead of just giving me the facts and letting me form my own opinion. I also do not like all the division that is promoted by the right or the left. Until we all come together as Americans and work towards the common good we will never fix our problems. But if we did come together as a nation we would not need all the politicians that are bought and payed for by special interest. And I mean politicians on both sides of the political spectrum.
