I was using a swim jig and a swimbait.
If was using bait it would be cut sardines or cut herring. Tons of keepers on those cut baits up here.

Went out on a charter years ago in the cape may rips for stripers.. was in the cabin sick the whole time till the mate got my back on deck with a fresh ell and I landed a 40 I'm ncher and won the pool for the boat.. to say my coworkers weren't happy is an understatement

They fish for stripers here in Maine too, but I haven't really checked it out, guess I should.. really need to learn to ice fish

I got that coat for 20 bucks. Haha. I think it might be a woman's coat maybe or a very strange cut men's coat. Prob why it was discount. But Idgaf. Hella warm. Lmao. Just gona get fish slime and guts all over it anyways. Plus now I'm really stylish walking the ice runway

I've caught lots of lake sturgeon. Just not whities. Biggest was around 120lbs or so. Maybe 6ft? 5 and change for sure. Not sure exactly. Lots of fish around 60-80lbs. Seasons closed permanently here though now.

Lake sturgeon honestly are nothing in comparison to the sturgeon over in the delta. When a big ass fish grows up in stupid currents they become next level strong.I've caught lots of lake sturgeon. Just not whities. Biggest was around 120lbs or so. Maybe 6ft? 5 and change for sure. Not sure exactly. Lots of fish around 60-80lbs. Seasons closed permanently here though now.
Some day make the trip. It is worth it.

I'll likely be in BC on the Frasier. We are planning to head to Cali one day...
Over here, we have a very large river. It runs about 55km/h on avg with alot of rapids and world class impassable rapids (class 6)? I fish directly beside them. Haha. There's some beasts in there, but we can't fish them. Not worth me loosing my gear and lisc plus huge fines. When we could it was FN fun as shit. Those things are so powerful and take such mega runs with amazing acrobatic breaches. Like fighting a hundred pound rainbow. Lol. Would love to get me a monster white. One day. It'll happen.

I had no clue what the Frasier river was before I read this article about a guy who caught a 10.5 foot sturgeon from his kayak.
I read this about 15 minutes ago....
