Ive yet to aqquire the dumping point problem mate but it will come i usually gift stuff i aint into to folks i know who care less
It was only with pheno hunting mate i ended up with a bit much mids, if it was decent it wouldn't be there.
I'd like to have given it away but I'd potentially be inviting trouble and I've too much to loose.

I'm doing one more seed crop from blue star, after that I'll be growing 4 good sized plants from the mothers I've kept, there'll be no more waste, stress and disappointments just hunners of dank weed :bigjoint:

I know all about being careful and agreed i guess i am just lucky enough to know some decent people plus where i stay everyone smokes and many grow so its pretty much part of the bricks and mortar of our community lol

Long story short I've recently harvested it's dry enough now to smell/taste it.

Out of the 6 plants harvested there's 2 i like, straight off they're stinky.

The others i think smell crap/not very much, i don't anticipate it getting better with curing?

That said there's people who's opinion i respect reckon curing can make this crap/nothing smelling weed decent?

Obviously I'm stuck with it and time will tell but I was wondering what your experience has been in my situation.

Edit... Dried at 14/16c 58/62% 11 days today.
Did you flush for days with plain water?

I doubt it it think that was when he was doing tests on the xylem channels for residual ec /salt build up call it what you will i dont think he flushes hard in all his runs unless im mistaken star dog ?
That’s not he came off on the endless thread about flushing. I could be wrong because I don’t follow the guy.

Drying and curing are not the same! Drying is just what it implies, drying the moisture out of the plant, water weight, nearly 80% weight loss. Curing allows the resin heads time to dry. Smoke uncured buds and the resin gobs up, cured bud smokes slower and tastes smoother, cooler.

Your spot on mate.
They got 3-4 days water before harvesting.

I don't believe in flushing, i know for sure you can empty a plants vascular system which does hold nutrient and then not after 4 days of water.

Depends, I’ve had weed that I just personally didn’t like the taste of that improved after a few weeks in a mylar bag, went from heavy camphor(mothball terps) and berries to straight berries and weed, and that was a big improvement. I wouldn’t jar up a bag of brick or Reggie and hope for much though.

Maybe i guess it depends on ones definition of flushing cos like i mean in all stages of growth we are just trying to mimic natural cycles and environmental conditions the best we can and nutrients are alot less available under 15 c so im not completely dismissive of cutting back or off at the end of a plants life i just think there is simply not enough research around yet on cannabis in general due to its longtime illegality least some places that is changing for the better heres like a stick in the mud that way unfortunately still

I do believe that some weed just doesn’t smell or taste brilliant and that’s down to genetics.

if I were you I’d try and keep that humidity close to 62 and with those temps and minimal airflow you can push it upto 21 days of drying time, if nothings improved by that point then maybe it’s just the genetics.

it doesn’t allways smell good throughout the drying process, what you smell is actually what’s being taken away from the plant as u dry it, there are processes we want to happen and the hay smell is often a byproduct of the process, I actually welcome that grassy smell because me smelling it in the air means the plants getting rid of it.

I believe curing may make weed “taste better or be smoother” but I do believe this is subjective, some people prefer different things, cured weed seems to be smoother and softer on the palette but lacks in terps flavour and potency imo.

Right after it’s done drying is when I believe it’s at its best, from the second we cut it down we’re loosing goodies, we’re also loosing baddies too, finding the balance between giving it enough time to get rid of all the baddies whilst preserving as many goodies as possible is what I try to do.

hope this helps mate,
and damn leave it at the side of the road somewhere for me to pick up next time your ditching all that bud, I would of washed us a slab and we could’ve halved it haha

Know I’m late to the party but I have had this a few times. If you have access to humidity packs then yes, the aroma can redevelop. Just jar and add a Boveda or raw pack or two in and seal. In two or three days you’ll notice a change… I like 62% for this.

I have a jar of Blackberry gum that never got a good aroma to it. The whole jar is set aside for extraction. Along with 4 gallon baggies of trim!

For those looking to maximize terpenes then use this at full strength you're entire grow. You're weed will be so full of terpenes that you'll actually be able to see them. As the weed dries you'll see what looks like wisps of smoke coming off of the bud. That's the terpenes. But don't worry, your weed will be so full of terpenes that you won't even notice the loss from off-gassing. You can even quick dry your weed in the oven without any loss of taste or smell. When you open that jar it will be like a punch to the face the terpenes will be so strong. A piece of bud no bigger than the size of a bong hit will fill an entire basketball stadium with the pungent aroma of weed. You'll be so impressed with the results that you'll start using it every grow.

I recommend getting a drum of it. It's a little bit to spend up front but you save about 75% buying it in bulk instead of a liter at a time. Your plants will be drinking it so fast that you'll go through it in no time. It's what separates average weed from the Chronic, the Dank, the Fire we are all seeking. You can thank me later.
