Just wait and see what it does at this point. If no vegetation opening up after a few days then consider it a loss.

Actually, a lot of seedlings start as helmet heads and usually take care of it by themselves..
Usually caused by not planting deep enough..
Should have waited a couple days.. Patience..

Believe it or not the seedling itself wants to live more than you want it to live, so don't literally love it to death.

What I do with helmet heads is give it a day or two and if it doesn't resolve itself by then, I'll place one drop of water on the seed casing it and it will usually soften up and rid itself of the casing in a day or two.
