She ran out of tanks at 4 and excuses faster, we have tanks in Europe and I expect more to be forthcoming, I understand Germany may give more than 14 later. Some of the numbers a preliminary, Russia is the only power they have to defend against in the foreseeable future and once defeated in Ukraine they won't be much of a threat to NATO. We have 80+ combat leopards and some others configured as recovery vehicles etc. We can give what we have and buy newer better later IMHO, taking advantage of the experience and lessons this war will provide.
If war broke out with China, I doubt tanks would be of much value in that theater, not really tank country, more like the WW2 pacific or Vietnam. Navy and air for the most part with HIMARS and artillery from Taiwan sinking Chinese landing craft and feeding fishes. Maybe fighting in Korea, but the South Koreans seem to have their backyard covered with domestically produced tanks and other armored vehicles.
So us hanging on to almost 100 leopards that Ukraine could use is kinda stupid, considering the threat environment in the foreseeable future. Tanks are also used mostly for offensive operations and not so much for defense and we are not gonna attack anybody unless part of NATO. That might be the reason for just 4, the rest in Europe are committed to NATO and might need a green light currently blocked by red tape.

The ghost of Stalin is never far from his heir and it will get down to Stalinist behavior keeping Russia in the war with Ukraine and to keep the empire together afterwards. Nothing will change when Vlad goes unless it is wholesale regime change with free and fair elections for the federal Duma and presidency with no secret police or corrupt oligarchs. Genuine reform that could lead to dissolution because it is liberal democratic, is the only way sanctions should come off. They are gonna turn into North Korea for awhile first though, after they are ejected from Ukraine and while Vlad licks his wounded asshole.

I'd say if Turkey doesn't play ball on NATO membership for Sweden and Finland arm the Kurds to the teeth make them a country and kick some ass in Syria now that Russia is gone, his client should be gone too. No canal for Turkey, unless China wants to finance it. The point is there are levers we can use against the Turks. I dunno how important getting Sweden and Finland into NATO will be once Russia is defeated in Ukraine, a bilateral defense treaty with America, the UK, Demark and Norway should take care of their defense needs, they won't need NATO, especially if Ukraine joins in the arrangement. Russia won't be in a fit state to attack anybody when they lose in Ukraine, with a destroyed military and economy. Once destroyed, both will be hard to rebuild and will take over a decade, if they reform in an acceptable way, if they don't, it will be the dark ages for them.

Uncle Sam and the EU are in the region now that the Russians are largely gone from there, they have other concerns right now. They are promoting peace, pipelines from the Caspian and prosperity. If Sweden and Finland can't join NATO, then they can form an alliance with Ukraine and Georgia at least, supported by some NATO partners, if not all. If Russia attacked Georgia, they had better be prepared to defend the Finnish and the Ukrainian borders from retaliatory attacks. Perhaps Belarus would join too, if Vlad should lose it because of this war. Then he would be surrounded on the west and south by a hostile alliance, backed up by NATO, they could be facing 4 or 5 Ukraine's at once, armed to the teeth the next time they try it, all arrayed around their southern and western borders, some very close to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

this may sound a little outfounded, but i can see, if and when the war is over....the caucases opening up (chech, georgia, armenia, adzubajian(sp),ossetia, and others rising up for they're own independence, and make a collective block with Ukraine)....against the Federation..

There will be some kind of defense arrangement of those countries left out of NATO who surround Russia and are on or near it's borders, the state department will arrange it along with some allies. If Belarus falls to the west Putin is screwed, because Kaliningrad will go too and he will have a north south line of enemies from Finland to Ukraine and the borders will be close to major Russian cities, as will western broadcasts in Russian of the good life, while they live like shit.

There was a recent video of russian soldiers dressing in Ukrainian uniforms to confuse Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines. It worked and they were able to kill some Ukrainian soldiers. Now I just watched a video of a Ukraine soldier who described using there dastardly tactic back against the russian invaders. When the Ukraine soldiers get close to russians on the front lines they shout to them in Russian "come here comrade" and the russians believing they are russian soldiers disguised as Ukrainians will get up and approach the Ukraine soldiers for easy elimination.....war is hell
