I was just attempting to get a decent closeup, but thanks. I've been reading this thread out of interest since I'm older school but new to growing and the stupid number of different strains available today. That GSC pic is one of the plants I grew this year. One of the reasons I wanted to try it is because my daughter was chirping about how good the strain was when she went to Vancouver last summer. Smells good, goes down smooth, and is a good heady, focused high. Not sure what to say about the next Skunk thing. Seems like there's a different strain for that category on a daily basis.

Imo the commercial stuff will be the new mids/k, and the home grown will vary wildly, but thats what makes it fun.

For every pollen chucker trying to make a buck, there is a really passionate breeder. Both have potential to find something amazing, I'm just partial to the stuff with history.

Fwiw, princess 88 (mother of c99) allegedly came from a Jack Herrer that got pollinated by an unknown strain. Pretty sure it came from bud in Amsterdam.

Princess is the original cut from a seed found in a bag of Jack (unknown parental genetics, likely an accidental S1). Princess was crossed with Shiva Skunk, and then successively backcrossed until C99. C99's parents are Princess x P94.

According to the widely accepted story that's true. Princess (original) was the pheno mr soul found in the bag of jack herer. Princess 88 is the BX2 of the original Princess pheno.

Yeah on the original princess jacks the only known parent who knows for sure what it is there is plenty of theorys but there all just conjecture really

I'm in oh10 and the closest I know of is Meigs County skunk and honest scout, have not heard anything in last 30 years. It was a very de- stinktive smell.

It is easy to find pre cookies strains. Shantibaba has held down most of Nevils stock for 30 years. Just go to Mr Nice and order afghan haze, master kush, skunk haze etc and go from there. But nobody is willing to put in the work to hunt then breed for generations, they just want to buy Roadkill Skunk seeds lol which is why they always get conned.

Having said that, I mostly grow GMO / chem hybrids cos thats what people want round here...so it is what it is.

Pehno hunting takes alot of time, space, energy, and resources. I grow weed because I like it. I also work full time, study for school, and maintain some sort of a social life. I don't see people complaining that nobody is doing the work, we just wish the genetics were still readily available.

most of the strains from my time are allready looked for, like original jack herer(you got 500 people selling it)
in my opinion new york diesel.smoked some in amsterdam most delicios orange weed i had in my life. grew red diesel cross from it. allsoo amazing smoke.

oh man, the original cut from the jack was one of the most extream smokes ive evber had the plesure of smoking. it was strong enough at the time of smoking it, let alone falling asleep at the wheel on the motor way, luckily for me, there was a trucker following me and used his aior hornes to warn me when i started vearing across the 3 lanes, little did he know he woke me up and saved my life, let alone any other road users at the time.
i've only ever smoked some nepaleese temple ball that was stronger, way back in the day, i was so fucking high, i couldent speak, it was like id forgotten how too lol.
apologies, no help on the skunk front, but you just braught back a couple of very fond times in my smokeing life.

But Shanti is a legit source. Another example would be White Rhino - it was Shanti and Nevil's work but then everyone just F2d their packs and started selling it so its now known as Medicine Man.

If there's a hierarchy of strains that will be sought after in 20 years, I think GG4 will be way up there and strains like Tangie or Zkittles will still be sought after, much less so.

Been smokin 43 years GG#4 is my favorite.

Black widow is nothing like the original white widow regardless what shanti says try it by all means and see for yourself but if you have had the old one you will see its not the same i suspect he has lost the original parents tbh

I've stopped giving a fuck about the latest thing. My previous round was Barney's Blue Cheese and Dinafem's White Widow. I really dig both of them, just a smooth chill stone with a bit of increase in inner dialogue, perfect stuff to vape on the walk home from work. I used to chase all the latest cookie crosses and glues etc. but who gives a shit lol.
