Would you switch to flower or would you still veg it?

Buds themselves are made up of clusters of calyxes. Buds will put on a good amount of bulk in the last few weeks (i.e. calyxes swell), although how bulky is part genetic, part environment.

It's better to think of it as "ripeness" and ripeness is partly subjective, like how ripe someone likes their bananas. It's also good to know that cannibas is an annual flower. It lives one season, puts whatever it can into reproduction (i.e. making flowers, pollen, seeds) then dies.

The plant will show you multiple signs that it's coming to its end. And each plant and strain is a little different. Some of the biggest signs are: swelling of calyxes, browning/receding of pistils, stronger aroma, fading of fan leaves, trichomes turning amber. You're looking to harvest as close to peak ripeness as possible. Just remember it's a little subjective, and the sum of the different signs the plant will show you.
Just not under developed from lack of light or in general, I am thinking that makes it harsh enough to close your airways, or N toxicity causing it to not ripe. That was a bad run but SOMETHING of the two had to of caused an athsma attack.

It happened to me once and the closest thing to that, that I smoked, was some pop corn bud shavings that I dried out and smoked because I am a weirdo lol. Was curious.

There is a lot of nice info! Thank you man! So it's the big picture to look at. Checking more than one factor and then deciding if it is ripe enough or if there is some time left... I think I will need some experience in the calyxes swelling part... I don't know how that looks like... And I also have to research what the calyx is exactly.

When the calyxes are ripe it is hard to the touch like the weed laying around you ready to smoke (on the hydrated side, not dried out and brittle.) The hairs will be very closely receeded into the buds just like your weed right now but a little less since it is still alive somewhat.

Try copping a feel through out mid and late flower, you cannot miss it, when it is ripe it is rock hard.

Then you will have a easier time spending just a few weeks posting “are we there yet” photos and getting that satisfactory “chop away” indication from RIU users that I see rarely as wow it takes patience but worth it.

So yo say it's worth the wait till full ripeness and the "chop away" command?

Right now I don't have weed laying around and if so it may be bad anyway since the weed on the streets is often shit anyways so yeah nothing to compare right now. But your infos are detailed so I think I know what to look for. This thread will be a go to read when mid flower before the "ready to shop" threads I gonna open Lol!

As I know myself I'll touch them everyday anyway LOL! So I think I will feel what you mean by getting rock hard!

For top tier product yes, which includes yield weight which is always a nice detail to contain in a review of a strain and skill level feedback.

I would not touch too much though, I was joking haha it can smudge up the pistols which in my laymens words kind of guide the development of the calyx and make a smudgy looking bud.

Some remove/tuck fan leaves selectively for the same reason, definetly want to let it grow in peace at that stage. I say satisfactory command because chop is the saddest but funnest part of it all lol

Many threads are around with this phenominon where the best ones to review are the ones that waited for that, if you still have trouble, by all means we rather see a nice chop than a premature one.

Ok thanks for the tip... I won't touch them a lot in flower Lol. Don't want to damage anything. I will definitely open a thread asking for advice if they are ready or not!
