Oh, I'm not staying away from HLG, not at all. I currently own over 30 HLG Quantum Boards of various models (older to current), and have been using them for years and years. I've assembled them for people before, too. I've never had a signle issue with a single one of their Quantum Boards either. Nor have I ever had poor results with any of their boards.
But having been only using HLG, and almost entirely their DIY stuff, for so long, I'm curious what the rest of the market has to offer as I'm out of the loop, partially because I don't *need* anything other than what I have, hah.
But honestly, I don't see much, if anything, "better" - or even *different* out there in the realm of led grow lights. So I will probably end up with some more HLG qbs to satisfy my sick addiction, hah. I'll likely get some of there newer boards/a fixture, and I'm really thinking of a UV bar or two of theirs.
Another note, HLG is by far one of the best customer service experiences I've had with any product, full stop. They're fantastic. Knowledgable, approachable, they have great sales throughout the year, they ship to canada, they listen to customers and the market, they corrected the only shipping issue I ever had within a day or two. They make some of the best products around (according to all sources, eg: Migrow, and retailers). And they have great prices. Just a great company. If I lived in the US I'd want to work there.

I went from HPS and MH directly to HLG back in the day, before the 288 rspec even existed.
I also like the sounds of growlight australia products though. The only reason I've never tried them is because it's hard to beat HLG price and shipping and I know HLG's gear is a sure thing, from experience. Being in canada ain't easy.

I agree, but, they have customer service that pushes them ahead I feel. Mistakes happen and they fix it and make it better thn just making it right. For an extra 200 - 500 bucks, I know years down the road I can contact them when I’m having issues, and they’re gonna fix it, no questions asked. Sometimes customer service is better thn just saving some money.

Light manufacturers are suddenly changing some of their specs from product they once sold. I owned 2 first gen SF 1000 spider farmers, now the board size, diode count and driver have changed. I will say they added a dimmer but sadly they raised the price.

Nothing is getting cheaper for sure. Supplier are having to pay more for parts, shipping, etc. It's gotten crazy.

What blows my mind is how expensive it can be to grow and buy equipment. Thn, I can go to a shop here in NY and get oss’s for 80 beans. It’s just getting cheaper to buy thn do this.

Peace of mind knowing what I used to grow the flower I consume and give out to friends and family is still worth the extra cost. I see the signs advertising low cost ounces. Most if not all of it has been machine trimmed so all the good stuff that was once on the flower could be used for all the other products the shops sell. The term "Good stuff" should be used lightly, my guess is it was grown using the cheapest and lowest quality nutrients the big ag growers could get their hands on.

My Dad always said "anything worth doing is worth doing right" I may not be the greatest grower but I don't cut corners with my growing.
Could you name some of these "budget" lights please? That's sort of related to what this thread is about.

Edit: Oh, and their direct or closest comparison product in the "high end"/premium category. I'm not trying to start an argument, just trying to think about it realistically and see what some comparisons might be.

I feel ya. Ten years ago I remember smoking Mexican brick weed. I never once questioned it, now I’d rather not smoke anything like that. Honestly, the black market here is still choice.

I’ve gotten ripoff HLG quantum boards rated at 240 or 250 watts off eBay for 100-150 bucks. I’ve bought like 5 I bet. I’ve given them to friends and honestly, they grow shit just as good as I’ve seen people grow with actual HLG boards. I like to offer low bids on eBay and I’ll wait until I get a deal on what I want.

Don’t get me wrong, I like clean bud lol. Advanced nutrients are getting expensive to run the line every grow in a 25 gallon undercurrent system that I change every week, plus the remote that chews thru another two gallons a day when they get bigger. I love doing it though.
Fruity chronic juice, I use to grow it back in the day, like 2011. Just put them into 12/12 two nights ago. 12 day veg, 15 days in cloner
