Early this afternoon, we said our goodbyes to The Black Beast. Out with the old, as it were. It now sits languishing among the other forgotten heaps in Languille's Scrap Metal yard. For all we know, it might have already been flattened and is on the back of a flatbed.

Then slightly later this afternoon, we said our hellos to The Scarlett Pumpernickel ( Looney Tunes fans anyone? )

... I would have graduated college in 90 if I hadn't taken the last part of the year off for a Grateful Dead tour in my buddies lime green VW bus for a few months ...
I was 11 years into my current IT career in 1990. I would have been the Team Lead for a 6 man crew managing the production job schedules for a large Data Centre. So I am old AF - and a geek to boot!

We got the call from The Mechanics today. They found a couple of problems.
  • The pressure hose fittings are starting to show some rot so just replacing the hoses won't do it.
  • They felt a slight "clunk" in the steering column which they believe could be wear from the pinion.
Bottom line - she doesn't have a nice rack. To replace the rack as well as both pressure hoses and re-align the front end is going to run us .... oh my!! It's simply not worth it for a rusting out Hyundai with 250,000K on it.

As of this morning, the Black Beast of Aaargh is officially no more.
You're in luck. I've been shopping cars getting ready to order. I highly recommend this:

Truly appreciate the recommendation Curious ... a fun ride but I can't haul a tree out of the forest with a Beemer. My kingdom for an SUV with the rear seats folded down.

We have that same 2020 Rogue - Charcoal grey - and we love it. The 2.5L engine can do 140 KM/H all day.

I'm glad you got something you're happy with. Back when I was heating with wood (11 cords a year) I had a 3/4 ton Suburban, different times/lives different needs :D I may have hauled a tree or two myself back in the day.
