Adam Schiff v. Durham

He was censured today for conducting an investigation into Trump's campaign's acceptance of Russia's help to win the election in 2016.

House GOP votes to censure Schiff over role in Trump investigations
The measure also directs the House Ethics Committee to conduct an investigation.

The House GOP voted Wednesday to publicly reprimand Rep. Adam Schiff for his leading role in Democratic investigations of former President Donald Trump.

Luna’s censure measure requires Schiff to stand in the well of the House chamber for a verbal rebuke in addition to triggering an ethics investigation.

Next up, they will vote on impeaching Biden.

Republicunts are all about performance politics. Feigned outrage du jour.

WTF Joe? Couldn't summon the spirit of hitler?
This is a disturbing choice, and i'd like to know the reasoning behind it.
You need an asshole when dealing with Russia and China and Joe picked a hard ass for a particular job requiring his "talents" and attitude. That as close as I can come, he wasn't indicted, just had bad press as far as I know, doesn't mean I agree or approve though. I figure Joe had his reasons for the appointment, maybe he was keeping some republicans happy, who knows.

Eh, it's mistake to think the democrats as a party give a shit. They are certainly better than the Republicans, but not by a large margin.

I've learned a long time ago, it makes no difference which party they represent, if they open their mouth, the are probably telling a lie.

It sounds like a Repug fuck-you.

After this story was published, a White House spokesperson responded, “President Biden announced his intent to nominate several individuals to serve as Republican members of boards and commissions that are required, by statute or longstanding practice, to include bipartisan membership. It’s standard for Republican leadership to put nominees forward for these boards and commissions, along with President Biden’s own nominees.” That is, it’s standard operating procedure for a White House to accept the opposition party’s recommendations for such posts. That means Republican congressional leaders—the White House did not say who—are responsible for Abrams being handed a spot on the commission. No surprise there, and perhaps a bitter pill for the White House to swallow.

Judging by the average behavior of the two parties’ officeholders, I disagree.

The margin is large, when you consider that disastrous fiscal policy, sharply regressive legislation on civil and voters’ rights, attitudes and statements about the insurrection, and the assault on social welfare, are entirely the product of one of the two.

The two parties’ contrast in these areas is, without exaggeration, stark.

Idk man, it's getting harder and harder to keep compromising. We are so far right that we are going to go back to debating civil rights stuff from the 60s rather than advancing as a nation/people.

We are going back and having to fight the battles of 50 years ago because of a desire to comprise. It's frustrating and stupid.

I don’t think a desire to compromise is a driver.

The big thing is an inability to stem the damage from Republican majorities.
This means that actually advancing Democrat policy choices is pretty near impossible.

Democrats will compromise with good-faith opposition, but Republicans have been unyielding in offering only scorched-earth options. Democrats compromised very little even when the house was on fire and Congress was threatening to drive the government into unprecedented default.

Never mind 50 years ago. Policy grievances reaching back to the Civil War are now in play.

The Republicans are frighteningly united in their dismantlement of the Republic. This is a new and dangerous thing, and I don’t see any Democrat complacency or cowardice in the mix. When you have one party (by and large) committed to fair play, and a Supreme Court stacked with kleptocrats, the overthrow party has a distinct advantage.

The one thing I do not recommend is Democrats adopting the opponent’s dirty tactics. So I’m placing a great deal of hope in the upcoming trials.

If that man does not have a dozen key legislators as codefendants in the Jan 6 trial, we are in for a hard haul preserving/restoring the rule of law and a government by, for, of the people. In a real sense, our Constitutional republic is on trial. We live (alas) in interesting times.

I get a sense of fatigue from your post. That is a dangerous thing. If enough people get “bad government fatigue”, that works in favor of the fascist overthrow agenda. Continue caring, I ask you. The only way we can control fascists is in how we vote.
